If it is as simple a drilled stud as it sounds, could a hole be drilled and tapped, run a screw in to that hole, that has had the hole put in it, and secure with Permanent threadlocker?

Seems an opportunity to make it a wee bit stronger than the original.

Might be a idea on a drilled stud?

A stud threaded in might be an option. Perhaps an alternative to the red heat required for silver brazing. Once filed to shape and set in place, the hole for the retaining pin would have to be drilled.
This has got to be done right - the sear has to be positioned correctly with respect to the cocking piece.

This is the sort of pita job that I would do if it were my gun, but would avoid if it were someone else's.

The stud is at the very rear of the action, yes? Lots of easy access. Not a hard thing to measure forward to either a pin, or a best eyeball estimate of where center of the hole should be, anyways. Measure from the action to the edge of the hole, to calculate height of stud.

Agree, fiddly and hard to charge out time on. Rewarding when doing for one's own self!
