I need education on a Sportco/Global rifle in 22 cheetah. Is the shell 308 or 303? What bullet,I was
told by the auction that the owner said it was a 308 made in Australia. I do not know this for a fact.
I also found it marked Omark. Any help would be appreciated. Regards 375rum

If it's the cartridge I'm thinking of, it was a collaboration between Jim Carmicheal and Fred Huntington (CHeetah). The original concept used a .308 Win case, but with a small rifle primer. From what I've read, cases are a pita to form. The intent was to have a cartridge that would give benchrest accuracy with higher velocity than could be had from a .22/250. There are two versions, with differences in shoulder angle.

I looked into that rifle too. The bit I got was 224 bullet on a 303 case. I was worried dies would be too much of a headache.

Quickload shows a 22 CHeetah MKI, with 50gr h2O case capacity, 2.5" OAL, max PSI of 50,763psi. Google tells me its based on the 308BR

There's also a 22 CHeetah MKII, with 56gr capacity, 2.7" OAL and max PSI is the same

A modern version of this would be the 22 Creedmoor. Hornady makes dies for $70, and brass with proper headstamp can be had from Hornady, ADG, Alpha, and Peterson. Expect SAAMI factory rifles from Ruger in the near future

Have owned both (spurred on by my now deceased friend Carl). Originally they were both made form 308 cases, small primer pockets on the Mk1 and large on the Mk 2. Trim to length, and check your neck thickness, it will likely need adjusting. They use 22 cal bullets, twist will depend on the maker, though both of mine were 1-14 (speed being the big deal with CHeetahs). I also have a 22-243 Middlestead, same twist. A little faster than the Mk1, about the same as the Mk 2. All are pure hell on LR gophers and prairie dogs and marmots. As is my 22-250 AI. I may do another, but with a fast twist barrel this time. - dan
