I know that one must protect from over heating the lugs, etc. Just wondering who can do the welding portion for me? I have the bolt body and the relacement handle. I can do all the finishing. I know people normally don't want to do "half a job" but this is a very long-term project. In fact it's starting with the bolt. (yeah, I know, makes no sense - been there and bought the t-shirt). Best guess on the angle is Ok for me. I'm sure whoever does this routinly has a good idea. Any takers? Cost?

***Thanks to all that have offered**** :):):)

M98? strait handle? angled? Chromed bolt?
I could do it,but i'd need more info and an exact or rough angle(if you don't care) to do it right

It's a swept-back Remington-type handle. This is for a sporter, so the angle would need to clear the scope. Likely, this is the second most common mauser alternation done. Typical carbon steel - not chrome

I mig welded mine with a wet cloth wrapped around the body of the bolt. Its not a hard job, but its probably better that the same guy weld it and finish the weld with a die grinder, just in case there are any cosmetic imperfections that show up and require another spot of weld to remove them. Old books show the gunsmith using oxyacetylene, which is fine, but tends to impart more heat due to its slow nature.

I welded a handle and bolt together for a fellow on here
a month back or so. Can't remeber his on-line name but
it turned out very well and he said it fit and funtions as
per factory part.

I don't mind doing it again if you like, no charge.
I did the other one free aswell.

Brownell's sells a jig to set up to weld Mauser bolts or any other. With its instructions, it allows you to set it up then take the whole thing to welder who just has to weld, and you are off to clean up. For heat sink I just put in an aluminum rod that just fits in the threaded end.
