Contrary to rumor, the SVT-40 is NOT hard on ammo if you adjust the gas valve correctly.

Supposedly the SVT-40 really destroys the casings, so be careful not to fire boxer (reloadable) shells through it. The recharging is so violent that it dents the case beyond repair (for reload), according to some sources.
Personally, I don't have an SVT-40 and never fired one, so this is just what I hear... you may want to confirm this info with people who shoot that particular gun. Better be safe than sorry, because commercial ammo is expen$ive!

) The cases come out of the breech with flute vents on the casing neck from the expansion of said casing in the breech. Not exactly what I would use to reload with, sorry. Besides at 10 bucks for a box of 20, its cheaper to buy milsurp. No offense but its better to find a more "recent" rifle to do some serious shooting with!
