I suppose this question has been asked but my search didn't take me to my answer.
Who knows of a outfit in western canada that does firearm refinishing.
I would like to have my norinco m14s done all in black without using a paint product, I'm guessing the finish i'm after is black phosphate?? I dunno
the reciever is forged norinco, parkerized and the rest of the parts are U.S.G.I. , gas assembly is stainless .......
i do not need the barrel done.... it's stainless and is getting bead blasted to a matte finish.
I know those P&D Socom norcs had a really nice finish.... I'd like something like that, a nice even black on all the parts.
can anyone recommend someone and some average pricing for this kind of work? This rifle is extremely special to me and i want her treated right :D
p.m. me if necessary.

Hungry teaches how to do tabletop Parerising in his 14 seminars.
Lot's of happy campers have done it at home.

Of course,
YPMMV,
so you might want to practice a bit on something less expensive till you get the color you want all figured out.

I want it black, deep dark rich matte black hehehehe
I haven't seen a home parkerizing job accomplish the finish I'm after...... I suppose i need to get educated.
I really don't want to "do it myself" when it comes to this. I can build em...... but cosmetics....... hmmmmm ... haven't tackled that art with metal yet other than the odd decent looking cold blue.

so who can i send my parts to??

Just try it on a piece of carbon steel stock! You'll be amazed at results. Try 24 and 48 hours. PC Cola like in 'President's Choice'.:)

And I am not :onCrack:

I know you weren't looking for a DIY method, but I thought I'd throw this link out anyway .... I'm imagining this is the type of result your looking for.

He uses a parkerizing solution followed by a Black Oxide solution with very pretty results :)

Black Oxide

I have used black oxide on 2 shotguns and got the exact look I think you are looking for.I did them at work.I first plugged the barrels and taped off the insides of the recievers then gave them a very light sandblast. The key to a good finish is removing all traces of oil or grease(do not touch the cleaned area with fingers) and previous finish.I used an air gun to blow the dust off and then dipped them in the black oxide solution. When I got the desired finish(matches flat black tremclad almost exactly) I rinsed it off with water and dried it. I rubbed it down with an oily rag to prevent it from rusting. You can probably get black oxide through a tooling supplier. Its easy to use, doesn't give off fumes and lasts a long time in a sealed container.
