who does good gun blueing?

Epps blues guns every February. They told me they wait until they at least get 100 guns ahead so they get the most of the blueing salts as it is expensive. So if this procedure is still in force yes you will have a long wait. They reblued a Rem 760 that I rebuilt for my nephew several years ago, it was an okay job. They have different grades of bluing and like Guntech states the results are largely dependant on how well the metal is polished and prepared. I did not request they further polish of the 760 as it was to be a utility deer hunting rifle, it just needed to look good not stupendous.
You can try Precision Arms in King City Ont. Steve has reblued an OU shotgun for me years ago and did a very nice job.

I'm not super clear on the difference between a hot bluing and a niter blue.

Can someone explain and post pics of their guns? That's much more fun that using the google.

Hi, here is a pic of a rifle I blued last werk and it sort of shows all methods of raditional metal finishes. The action is pavk casecolour hardended in bone and wood charcoal. The barrel is rust blued (the streaks are from my finger prints in the oil, in person it is very nice and even), the block, hammer, trigger and most screws are nitre blued at 335 C, the base for the tang sight including the spring and the screw holding the spring was hot blued by MVA. The tang screws holding the base on the action are just fire blued using a torch ( I was too lazy to fire up the nitre pot for a couple of screws).
