I want to have one of my CZ Kadet pistols milled for a red dot sight.

I did contact black box customs but hey quoted ~600 and I couldn't get them to respond to some questions so I'm hoping there are others doing similar work.

In my opinion when a contractor quotes an $$ number and they dont answer basic questions means they dont want to do it....

Or it is beyond their skill level. I recently had a similar experience with an automotive repair shop. First they said that any engine repair requires an engine replacement, then thing got even more interesting when he threw out a 30 hour quote to do a cam and lifters on a 5.7 Hemi in a Ram 1500.
Rather than admit incompetence, they typically resort to things like above.

Sounds like a Barnes Family run dealership..........

Your in BC. I'd contact Reliable or Italian sporting supplies and ask them if they know anyone who will do that job for you . or Contact Wolverine and ask them the same question. $600 dollars eh . glue sniffers .

Sounds like they don't have the CAM file (program to be used by the CNC machine which cuts the slide) for that slide / optic combo you want. In that case a tech needs to create it from the ground up. I was quoted 2-3 hrs to create the file, and up to an additional 1 hour to cut the slide - all at $120/hr for the tech. Then there is an additional $150 for the Cerakote. Optic, plates if needed, shipping and taxes all extra.

If they don't have to create the file, the job is a lot cheaper. If there was the opportunity to cut a bunch of other Kadet slides and scale-up, most businesses would probably eat the up-front computer programming costs, but it is low volume up here for anything other than Glocks, P320s and M&Ps, running Vortexs RMRs and Holosuns.

Casey at TacOrd just milled a S&W M&P slide for a friend, to mount a DeltaPoint Pro, and did an excellent job.

Actually a shop in Northern Ontario. Had work done there in the past but when I asked about the current need, the owner went completely irrational. I have a mechanical background so it is pretty difficult to BS me. Just too much Arthritis to do the work myself.
