Who else has seen this

you guys should stop crying . I seen two sporterised Portuguese 41 Mausers this week.
any one have an extra stock ? drilled, taped, bolt handles ,the works.

I don't get it some one please enlighten me.

Are tanker enfields even real?

No, not at all. But they obviously sell, as we've all seen a succession of them going through the EE.

Beater makes a bunch of them, using sporterized Enfields and turning them into something nice.

I had a Long Branch version of his work and it was excellent.

I have no idea who built the No 4 Mk 2 one in the OP. The work is not the same as all of the other ones I've seen.

I know it sold for $625, to me that seems what it should sell for if it was not bubba'd. What is the going rate for one in original condition? not in the wrap but a nice shooter like the tanker.

When I saw this on EE my train of thought went something like this: "Why the Fv<k would anyone?.....no he didn't;couldn't have?.........oh my god!....No one is that we-tard-ded.......Squib load F'ed up the last 3-4" of barrel!!!????......what else would you do?!"

The only reason someone would violate a Faz like that IMO......the only one that I could come up with anyhow. Surely Bubba can't be THAT compelling to chop a brand new rifle?!

I don’t mind what was done to the rifle, after all, as has been pointed out by so many in the past it is someone else's property and they can do with it as they please. Add to that it increases the value of the rifles in my collection. Because it was made with an as new rifle it is likely one of the nicest ones we will likely see for a long time though as has also been pointed out the ones made up by beater are top notch and no original rifles are harmed in their making. The only thing that gets to me is the price. Though not the case here there are some who will criticize collectors for being willing to pay a premium for an original example then sell a bubba at that same premium price. Taking an $800.00 to $1000.00 wrapped No.4 out of the bag and shooting it then reselling it for its original value is bad enough but bubbaing the thing and asking a collecter grade price seems a bit backwords. Don't get me wrong here I'm happy for both the buyer and seller as they both saw the value in the rifle but I for one sure don't. At least in this case what is being sold is clearly described and shown through the pictures for what it is so thumbs up to the seller for their honesty. Does anyone remember the refinished Finn M39 that was proudly shown in the Mulsurp forum which later showed up in the EE for sale with no mention of the work done and a collector grade price? To add insult the seller asked that their original post be deleted.

Yes, I remember that M39 and the seller's original "From beat up to masterpiece" thread (or something along those lines). I also took distinct note of the seller's non-disclosure of the refinishing when selling the rifle, and while he's subsequently posted a few other interesting rifles for sale, I've skipped by them out of caution.

hmmm thats not my work. think you would have to have a knife at my throat to cut up that original rifle.
like its been said tho, to each his own.
to bad , it would have looked much better in my opinion had they got the bbl length infront of the front site correct.

I've been on here for quite a few years and have seen just about everything.

I would have been the one to save that rifle but what is done is done.

I just hope someone gets to enjoy it and convinces someone else to get into the sport of shooting and not gunsmithing ;)

Wow, what a s**tstorm that little Tanker created! :nest:
I'm kind of flattered by it's popularity actually, and thanks for the kind words about my dog. :)

Now...onto the facts. I purchased this rifle already built, I did not do any work to it myself. Whoever did the work did an amazing job and it shot and handled fantastic, I've seen beat-up pieces of dog-s**t that were "tankerized" to fetch a buck and they were terrible.
I sold it for it's asking price in no time flat and had a ton of PM's asking for it after it was gone.
Like them or hate them these "bubba-Tankers" are sought after and have a market. I bought it because I liked the look of it and I know I enjoyed my time with it. The buyer was more than happy with his purchase and seemed to like the look of it too.
I'll leave the ad up a little longer so you guys can ramble-on! :p

I have no words....How to turn a $700 rifle to a $400.... Even if its like new, its ruined:mad:

I wouldn't even attempt to discredit your knowledge base when it comes to milsurps, but I feel qualified to at least share my knowledge on this one, so here's a little "Tanker 101" for you... ;)

The member I purchased the rifle from paid close to what I did.
I saw the rifle on the EE and bought it for close to what I sold it for.
I sold the same rifle in seconds flat for my asking price, I had to let-down at least two more "I'll take it's" and I still receive PM's to this very day about it.
So there's three members who happily shelled out close to 700$ for a rifle you say I should only get 400$ for.

I understand you and many others wouldn't spend an ounce of coon-s**t on it, but you can't deny the fact that the market for Tankers is alive and kicking with plenty of WTB's out there in CGN land.

BTW as for the ruined comment, out of the four various Enfields I've owned this one shot the nicest by far.
