I am looking to talk to others who load for the .338 Edge round. I currently load a 300 gr Sierra Match King, but was thinking of trying 250 and 200 grains rounds. I am hoping someone else has experience with these and can provide some starting loads.

If not, my intention is to use the .338 LM loads to do a comparison of my 300 grain loads to the LM specs. Then use percentages to estimate starting load for the lighter bullets based on LM reloading tables.

I just use the 300 gr SMK but here's a couple straight from Carlock. Consider them maximum.

Bullet: Sierra 250 gr. SMK
Case: Remington
Primer: CCI BR2
Powder: RL-25
Charge: 99.0 gr.
OAL: 3.685”
Velocity: 3094 fps
ES: 24 fps

Notes: Groups .218”-.294” @ 100 yards

Bullet: Nosler 200 gr. Ballistic tip
Case: Remington
Primer: CCI BR2
Powder: RL-25
Charge: 104.0 gr.
OAL: 3.725”
Velocity: 3390 fps
ES: 28 fps

Notes: Very compressed load, Mag primer may help lower ES

I found them and have loaded some 200 gr rounds. Not getting to the range this week. Hopefully next weekend.

I am taking his suggestion of using a magnum primer. Hopefully it all works out.

Oddly my load was not compressed at all. Still some rattle when I shake the bullet.

I use 215Ms in all my Edge loads. The CCI Magnums gave me the worst streak of cold weather misfires I've ever experienced.

Funny thing with data, I see loads called compressed all the time, and many of them aren't even close to touching.

Whats your Edge built on?

My first one was on a Savage too. After getting my feet wet that way, the second (and probably final) one is a Defensive Edge Canyon Rifle built on a Bat repeater, 30" Hart barrel, HS Precision stock, DE brake and Jewel trigger.
