On November 21st, I ordered a Marlin 60SS from Wholesale in Winnipeg and they told me 2 weeks to a maximum of 3 weeks to arrive from the Edmonton warehouse and they would call me.

Fast forward to Dec. 12th and I happen to be near Wholesale Sports and stop by to ask about it. I ask the same guy I ordered it from and they look in the back but cannot see it so they tell me they will go through the shipment and call me. I give them my number again.

Now on Dec. 21st I get a message from another guy saying they need to know right away if I still want this gun because they will have to release it and give it away since they have called me about it twice. I return the call within 5 minutes and he's not available. I call again in 40 minutes and finally get the guy, let him know I still want it and he says he will check for it.

He calls me back and tells me he has bad news but sorry they sold it to someone else. So now I'm pissed.

I give him the name of the guy I ordered it from, spoke with in person and that nobody has tried to call me or else I would have a record of it.

He then admits someone screwed up and they will courier another one from Regina which will hopefully arrive on Christmas eve. He says that they will make it up to me somehow. I'm thinking that this should be in the form of a discount on the gun or a super discount on a nice scope.

In the mean time who has the gun that was supposed to be mine?;)

Maybe I'm a little laid back, but Crap happens ... and usually only when you can't afford it to happen, or really don't want it to happen.

The good thing is that they are working to fix it for you and get you the gun you ordered. Any "make up" they offer would just be a bonus in my mind.

Yes I agree!

Anything above me getting the gun is bonus. But it just seems that lots of employees don't give a damn these days and the ones that do have to put out all the fires.

Yup ... That's the problem everywhere right now ... far too many people are working somewhere just to collect a paycheck :(

Those that are getting paid to work somewhere they enjoy working are the ones that take the time to listen to a customer and do what is needed to help them.

I feel your pain, but I think we've all been there. Their bad communication results in you having to simply accept the less-than-ideal outcome. I've never dealt with them, but once you get someone on the phone who seems to give 1/2 a sh*t, remember their name...and ask for them whenever you call back. Worked for me with a local dealer, the good guys "rise to the top" I think. When I've called this shop and got one of the duds on the phone, they seem surprised (puzzled) as to why I'd rather call back when the other guy is there. I feel more satisfied, and I think the managers take notice.

Good luck tracking-down your gun, I'm sure they'll make it right.

LOL, if you want the gun transferred from another store, DON'T! Just go online and mail order it. You ask me how I know that this is the way to do it?

I walked into wholesale sports and wanted to buy a Weatherby vanguard sporter in .22-250 a couple years ago, they didn't have one in stock, but there was one in Calgary, they would transfer it in, three weeks latter I called, they couldn't get it in, I was so angry that I went online and ordered it, just to be stupid, they called me that they could send me the gun but the scope I wanted they didn't have. Next time

I waited two months for mine to come from Edmonton to Saskatoon, was in stock wine I ordered. I eventually picked it up myself will I was in Edmonton, it had my name written on the box. The dip#### said that they couldn't sell it to me as someone in Stoon had ordered it, I explained that I was that person and was pissed that it takes longer then 2 months to ship something from one store to another. No discount was given. Still not as bad as the muzzleloader I ordered that took over a year to get in from Calgary, I said they could insert it into their arse.

i was told by a guy at the langley store that if we dont have it in stock. just order it from the web site. you do have to pay for shipping but they ship it to you house i got one in 10 days and 1 in 12 days. he also said that if i want it brought into the store they will have to ship it from calgary (their head store) and the only send the truck out once its full. so if it takes 2 weeks or 4 weeks to fill it thats when the trailer leaves. id rather just pay my 27$ for shipping and be able to track my order

Teach the bastards a lesson, spend your money somewhere else, and let them know you're doing it, and why. People who accept the problems willingly are half the problem and the reason WSS is what it is.

If every person who got screwed at WSS walked away they'd either have to improve or shut down. Whining online doesn't count.

Wholesale Sports. Need I say anything else.
I ordered a Browning rifle from them online. A month later they called and said they were sold out. But they had them in stock when I ordered.
No Sale Sports!!!
They stole 50 firearms from the Regina store. They would have stole more but they didn't have any in stock.

I ordered one about a month or so ago, and was shocked when it arrived in my mailbox four days after placing the order. Coincidence? Not sure.

This is stark contrast to the CZ 453 which sat on order for 3 months, eventually leading me to cancel the order, and the Remington VSSFII that showed up in obviously banged up condition with small chips out of the stock and scratches on the barrel.

WSS is hit and miss at the best of times.

Checked again in Langley for some 80 grain Remington PLHP that were order 6 - 8 months ago. Never got a call. The other day I mentioned it again but they would order again as one of the other stores had stock. Out came a form and my information was added. "Funny but they never did that before". Reply: If the form isn't filled out it will not happen". So the message might be fill out the form and get a copy.

I ordered some Remington .30-40 Krag ammo from their Winnipeg store, filled out the forms and everything, they said it would take 2 weeks to get it from Calgary. 6 months later I went in and asked them where my ammo was. After 15 minutes they found the form unsubmitted in their back room, and checked the system and found out there were totally out of Remington .30-40. So they ordered me some Winchester .30-40 from Calgary and told me they'd rush it and it would take 2 weeks and they'd call as soon as it arrived. 2 MONTHS later I called and asked them where my ammo was. Apparently it had been sitting in the back with my name on it for 3 weeks.

Do keep in mind, you get what you pay for.

On that same note, I can personally attest that corporate policy is the anti-customer service. I stick to policy to the letter, and all I ever get out of it is "you're an #######" or "#### off".

There's nothing wrong with WSS. They are the walmart of sport shooting stores - they bring in reasonable quantities of reasonable quality stuff at a reasonable price. They do really well when they stick to that basic formula, but tend to screw it up when you force them outside those parameters.

It's goofy to let them arrange to bring something in from another store for you - go online and order it and it will arrive in a week-10 days, and if it's not in stock anywhere you get put on a list and they call you when it comes in. Bingo - no more calling your local store every week asking them to check where your order is.

It's really that easy. For special orders and anything outside the ordinary you're way better off to go to a different store, Like P&D, Epps, or your local gun swapper store. :)
