Who Had The S&W M&P 22 For $489?

WeimaJack is selling one similar. Just seen it on there today here is the details.
SMITH & WESSON MP15-22 semi automatic rifle chambered in .22 L.R.. The MP15-22 is built with high strenght polymer upper and lower receiver. 16 in. barrel, 6 positions CAR stock, 25 rounds magazine, adjustable dual aperture rear sight, adjustable A2 post front sight. Product code is 811030. This rifle is brand new and unfired. Classified as "RESTRICTED FIREARM". Actual rifle pictured. Price $495.00

Armand's always good about pricing- if you're ready to buy, wouldn't surprise me if he'd honour the $489 price....

A guy brought one to IDPA today and he shot it after everyone was finished the COF. Seems very accurate and reliable. I held it and like the feel. Couldn't believe the upper and lower are polymer? How would you guys rate the M&P 15-22 compared to the SR-22 or the VTR? I hear the Rem VTR is a jamomatic and the SR-22 is just a 10/22 made to look like an AR? What is the concensus here?

TIA

I think your right on ...

Read a lot about VTR jamming, complaints about the M&P extractor blowing, and not much about the SR22.

SR22 is an aluminum receiver housing the standard 10/22 action & slightly thicker barrel, more heft to it, extremely reliable, but does not come with iron sights and is expensive compared to the M&P. One benefit is that the SR22 is non-restricted, the M&P Is restricted.

anyone else chime in??

I owned a 10/22 which i did up as an ar-15 looking gun, Fabsports Fs556 kit, very similar to the sr-22 now. The 10/22 is reliable but at the end of the day no matter how you dress it up its still a banana clip 10/22. If you want the look and feel of a ar then the M&p 15-22 is the way to go. It has the true ergonomics, charging handle, saftey and bolt release as an Ar. As far as the reliability of the M&p goes i baught this gun and took it out shooting. I could not even shoot one complete clip without a fail to load or fail to eject and thats not even shooting rapidly. Once i took the gun home and gave it a cleaning i can shoot this rifle full speed every time without one failure. In the last 2 bricks i shot i had only one fail to load. Pull one pin and you have the rifle apart and ready to clean, so now i clean the gun everytime i go out shooting and it works flawless for me ever since. After owning an ar looking 10/22 and this M&p 15-22 its an easy choice, the M&p is the winner hands down.

i agree that the 15-22 is the best one so far, compared to the VTR and SR22...i got my 15-22 from badger arms too....but they charged me $575 plus shipping to BC.

i've had mime for a while and originaly some fte problems....... maybe first 500 rounds 1 or 2 on a mag
seened to go away when i paid more attention to loading the mag

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9krQs31e6L4

i also put a drop of oil into the extractor recess area when i go to the range......... i'm hoping this will keep krud from packing in there and possibly jamming or blowing the extractor

because i have the original springs i used to load a couple /three stingers per mag to help work the
action in, after 4500+ rounds this isn't a problem. it now shoots any high/hyper volocity no problems.

it DOESN'T like 20 year old 1080fps ammo at all

so far it's been a blast to shoot

daydream: waiting for them to make a lefty so i can bolt two together

luck
