I was looking around and it seems like you can only get carbines and SBR's of various lengths now. I guess the rifle length AR isin't tacticool enough anymore. I just want a standard flat top rifle with A2 front sight, same layout that the CF uses. Arms East used to have a 20" stag in .223 Wylde which would be awsome but they don't seem to carry that model anymore. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Does it need to be 20"? I've seen a few 18" DMR rifles, there's even an NEA rifle available if you're a little tight on budget. Or you can build one as well, picked up an 18" NEA barrel from Fabsports for fairly cheap.

My NEA DMR decided to shear half it's locking lugs off 500 rounds or so in. I would recommend buying pretty much anything else over one.

I would prefer not to piece one togeather but I'm not opposed to it completely. I just purchased a bunch of M14 specific tools, not looking to buy more for the AR15 right now. I just want a 20" because it's what I'm issued. I would like a shorter one but why get used to somthing else.

I'm surprised about the NEA DMR locking lugs. I'm fairly certian they don't make their own bolts so it would be interesting to see where they source them from. It's one of those things where you generally only hear about the bad and never the good as far as I can tell...they say a happy customer tells no one about how happy he is but an unhappy customer will go out of their way to tell everyone about how unhappy they are.

I bought a basic Stag Model 4R (with the 20" barrel) from Arms East a few years ago, and it's still listed on the company's website.

EDIT - Oops ... sorry ... that link (from the sponsors' links at the top of this page) takes you to the company's website, and not its actual online store ... where I see now that the 4R is not even listed.

I overlooked the actual link to the store itself.

I tried to find one in Canada last September and came up empty.

I ended up getting irunguns to bring me in a rifle and had it in my hands in a month. Their inventory is depleted right now, they had hundreds in October when I ordered.

Budsgunshop has lots right now and irunguns will bring one in for $225. If you got on it you'd have it in your hands by early February.

Wolverine can bring in 20" armalite. Call to see if they have any in stock, they dont list them out of stock

I'd like to build a 20" rifle but for $1150 I don't see the point.

Wolverine is listing all the ones I clicked on as out of stock.
If you don't mind buying Armalite I'm sure they can order you one.

You could always look on the EE for a cheap AR of any length and just swap out the barrel, gas system and forend for around three hundred dollars extra.
I've seen a few AR's on the EE for under $1000 and a barrel is usually $250-$300 for a decent one.

20" is kinda rare lately but they do pop up on the EE. I sold my Bushmaster complete target/varmint upper this summer on the EE and I've seen others

I would just like to find a dealer with a new 20" barrel ready to install into an upper. No one seems to have one in stock with a front sight post.
