Who has a Stevens 200 in 25-06?

Why not?

I remember reading about a couple of guys on the board who have them and am considering trying one out for coyotes and wolves this winter. I have a whack of '06 brass and some 257 bullets, so why not? ;)

How well do the ones you guys have shoot? I expect they will be just fine, but would like to hear first hand.

Also can you tell me if you have had any problems with them feeding properly?

Thanks,
Ted

sorry I don't have that combination,

However I have a 25-06, great caliber for yotes, good reach out and touch.

I've never used 30-06 brass to make 25-06 but it will work just watch that the neck does not get too thick when you reduce it.

I have a new Savage that I'm very happy with.

I think your looking at a good combination, and there are a few guys here that bought 25-06 stevens last year so I'm sure you'll get a few more opinions.

One detractor form the 25-06 version of the stevens 200 is the 22" barrel. a 25-06 would be better with a 24" like I believe the magnums in the line have. other than that and it's a pretty small issue, so there is no reason why not. I have one in 270 and it shoots great.

25-06

Ted my Stevens 25-06 is a great rifle, I think I'll ask those 4 deer that I have killed with it if they would have preferred to have been shot with a 24 inch barrel!!! Any how I sent you a PM on the possible sale of my gun if you are interested, FS

I have one coming. :)

We'll see how it does with some handloads and let you guys know.

Thanks for your help so far. Now what about your favourite/best bullets for varmints in this cartridge?

Ted

Ted,

My 25-06 go to varmint/coyote bullet is the 75 Grn. V-max. The first powder tried, H4350, has been very satisfactory.:D

Mines not a Stevens, but, still might work for you.

Let us know how it goes. Good luck and have fun.

58 gr's of H4350 over a 75 gr Vmax. :) :):)
Makes groundhogs do 4 foot backflips :):)

And Ted, I have a ton of brass... if you need some, PM me
