Considering one with a 16" barrel so I can shoot PCC in 3gun next year - hoping someone here has one and can give some info in terms of accuracy at 100m and what ammo it seems to like. I'm also curious if they work ok with KCI mags?

Alternativly is there a 9mm AR available with a last round bolt hold open that accepts pistol mags?

Thanks in advance!

Saskatoon gun works had some, pretty sure I saw one last week and there's a few guys I've seen with them. I have limited experience with them however if your looking for a 9mm ar15 these are the best your money can buy

Absolutely. You can get a 9mm AR-15 and use the 10rd RRA pistol mags in it.

PCCs are great fun.

Also, the Colt-pattern ARs have last shot bolt hold open (LRBHO) which is generally more reliable than most Glock-fed options I've found in my research.

LRBHO with Glock mags is a tricky thing to do. Most makers like Angstadt, Circle 10, PSA all use the long-arm lever-style actuator to activate the AR's bolt catch. This requires a very strong magazine spring to impart enough force at the bolt catch.

However, some are using another method to impart this force more directly. This is more of a "pivot" design. Those using this style of LRBHO include Wilson Combat, New Frontier Armory and CMMG. IMO, the best LRBHO design I've seen is that used in the new CMMG Guard. Unfortunately, that's only offered in 45ACP.

I hope this helps.

The Glock 26 mag that I have repeatedly locks the bolt to the rear after the last round. The Glock 17 mags don't, even with upgraded Wolf springs. However, I have a feeling it it is the mags themselves - the follower on the glock 26 mag looks different than the followers on the glock 17 mags. The last round bolt hold open really doesn't bother me, but I could see how it might be an issue for competition.

Ordered a 16" UDP9 from saskatoon gun works, they have some unreal deals on Angstadt right now. Spoke on the phone with the owner (I'm assuming) and got more info on mags. He suggested wolff springs for mags that don't hold the bolt. ICABOD123 - maybe your 17 mags are pre gen 4, I read on the wolff site that there is a difference. Could be affecting the spring rate or the follower is a different design.

I'm ordering some KCI 33/10 mags from a former site sponsor that shall not be named, we'll see how they work!

The key to the bolt hold open is a lighter than Mil-spec bolt catch spring. Hrcboy noted the change he made to get the rifle to consistently hold the bolt after the last round. I have noticed with mine that is from the most recent batch from Wolverine than mine is holding open on Glock and ETS mag without any changes to the spring. Possibly they have changed it at the factory:
