Who has an H&R Buffalo Classic?

buffalo arms in the u.s has a marble tang site that will work and should be capable of 500yds.You can also swap out the front site for a lower one to help with elevation.I haven't shot mine as much as I would like but with remington factory 405gr. it shoots 2 1/2-3" .The twist according to marlin is 1-20 and action is rated 28,000 cup.

How much are these selling for nowdays? I was talking to an guy that owns one today, and he said they sold for $500 and up a couple or three years ago, but have come down a bit recently.

I got one a year or so back, believe that it was around $425. Love it. Lots of fun.

Williams makes a rear aperture sight that mounts on the barrel in place of the factory-mounted rear sight (also Williams, but different model). It apparently allows for much more elevation adjustment than the stock sight. I don't have one, but I bet that it would be mucho cheaper than the other options mentioned here.

There are lots of interesting and informative threads on this gun at the Graybeard website.

If either or both of you guys try that Williams sight, I'd love to see a review here. Thanks.

I've got a caribou trip planned for this year and am seriously thinking of bringing the BC as my second gun.

I got a beauty today. Guy bought it new, fired one shot of Rem. 405gr. factory, and decided then and there it was too much to handle. So here it sits, waiting for action...and I got 19 rounds of factory ammo with it.
This makes me a little heavy with 45-70 singles. Ain't that sad?

Indeed it is...and I'm enjoying one of those bubblys as I type.
Out to the range today and learned that 405's @ 1450 fps print 9 inches below 300's @ 2000fps.
We definitly need more up-travel:) in the back sight.
