Who has best 1000rd 9mm deal?

Just ran a few numbers to see what it costs to reload 1000 9mm. Total cost is 42.50 per 1000 give or take a few cents.:runaway::rockOn::runaway: Not having to buy bullets for reloading cuts costs way down. The better is half is a lot happier with my gun related spending now I am casting my own bullets and reloading.:D

Melting down free wheel weights cuts down the overall cost dramatically. I could not believe it, but after doing the math a few times I am really glad i now have about 600 lbs of wheel weight lead all melted down into ingots sitting in the garage waiting to be transformed into those lovely little pieces of happiness that we covet.:D

Did you add up the cost of getting all the wheel weights....gas and time?
The cost to melt and cast?

..I just grab a wheel weight and melt it with a torch?? Has to be a bit more to it than *Free* bullets...

I concur with whoops7777. I also cast my own bullets, and save big dollars in reloading. I have yet to pay a single thin dime for wheelweights, and I have used several hundred pounds in my 30+ year "career". :D My late Dad also found a supply of pure lead for me, as well as two 5 gallon pails of LINOTYPE. You don't find linotype very much anymore these days. I would guess that I easily have 1000 pounds of bullet material at home. :p

My equipment has long since paid for itself, so my cast bullet shooting is almost free. I have brass coming out the ying-yang so all I pay for is primers, powder and the miniscule amount of bullet lube that I use. In pistol rounds, the most expensive component is the primer. When you can shoot centerfire and the round costs 3-5 cents each, then you have it made.

I have steel ammo cans full of cast .45 bullets. I estimate that I have at least 5000 .45 bullets in stock. I also cast rifle bullets, but not as much as pistol. I will rectify that soon. Rifle bullets are almost as cheap, with the only difference being the cost of the copper gas check. Why everyone doesn't cast bullets is beyond me.

I'm in the same boat as Howie, I cast for both rifle and pistol. I can shoot for a long time to come without breaking the bank.
I too can't figure out why more people don't cast thier own. It's a great hobby and I get great satifaction shooting small groups with bullets i've made myself.
