Since I got my PAL i been looking for a new cosmoline soaked, 55-56, excellent condition, blued, silver bolt and bayo, matching ( no force matched ), light or no refurb laminate sks, WITHOUT the welded and bbq painted magazine plate (internal pinning or rivet is preffered).

Anyone been able to find one at the sponsor's websites? Pics?

If your talking about the frankenpinned mags, then my 49 seems to have been spray painted after the solder/ weld job, just the mag though. Try Westrifle and weimejack, see what they have, prepare to pay for what you are asking!

Thanks for the response, The pics look like painted mag so I just wanted to confirm.

No go with westrifle, They all have the welded mags. Been watching Weimejack posts for the right one but I don't think I get to it often enough.

The last few batches of rifles from Westrifle that I've had all have the follower extension inside the mag, rather than the welded external mag. They must have found a different source of rifles.

I just took a look and wow haven't seen frankenpinned in a couple years, mine is a bit worse than that one and my paint over is worse too, I was thinking of just getting a replacement Russian mag that looks better, as it isn't a match anyway!
I am not sure what he has in stock but Corwin Arms has quality stuff when he can get it!

The days of the primo SKS's that we used to get are pretty much gone. To find what the OP is looking for now you will have to look at private sale in the EE. Be prepared to pay for it as already mentioned.

I own a perfect example. Laminate, blued perfectly, mag is riveted and not welded. Not for sale though.

I have what you seek CBP, but its not for sale.

"That is not the SKS you are looking for."

I agree. Almost everything I've seen for the last year or so has been of lesser quality. When there is something really nice, it's hoarded by the employees and/or gone immediately.

I did watch a #'s matching Chinese SKS still in cosmo go for sale in the EE for $225 and about 15min later was SPF.

PM Martin at Corwin-Arms through this site. He doesn't list everything he has on his website. You might luck out if he has a chance to look through his storage room of wonderful toys.

You will have to do some searching. I would think your best bet is keeping an eye on the EE, they do come up. You are likely to find a refurb with no weld on the mag easily right now. As far as I'm aware it's been a while since there was a supply of pinned followers/non welded pristine sks's were imported so the chance of finding one on a store shelf is small, but but i suppose it's not impossible.

All of the mags I've seen with the welded pins are spray painted. They probably still have the bluing under the paint. At least the few I stripped the paint off of did - obviously the area around the weld won't be blued. An option that you could "look at" might be to file/sand/clean up the area of the weld/pin so that its flush and then touch up the area with paint or something that will match. I had an sks with that done to it and it was hard to tell that it was a welded mag unless it was opened up. It was cleaned up really nice and It would be really easy to do if the look of the weld bothers you.

I have a few Chinese in cosmo that I have been thinking about parting with. The problem is that when you list them for sale for more than they cost 3 years ago, the azzhats come out with their "They used to be $75.00" comments. I wouldn't part with them for under $300.00 now, because they are worth more to me to let them sit as they are.
