Was pulling some rifles out of the safe for cleaning etc. and remembered I had this excellent, like new unique 6.5mm rifle in there and had not shared it with others here before.

As you can all see the standard of workmanship as well as the walnut stock and bluing are simply stunning!

Anybody else have one? I will not name what it is to see who are the smarty pants out there who can id it and calibre for the rest!

Enjoy -

I had one a few years ago, mine was a German WW2 capture., modified to accept a german K-98 sling.

It is nice, but probably Arsenal Refinished, receiver markings seem to buffed or missing.

Ha Ha, LOL!

I have not shown the receiver markings as it would id the make, the markings on the stock and action I will show after it is id. I can assure you it is not refinished.

What is the difference between the M1916 and the M1895?

Nothing much, they just called them that apparently when they (Hembrug) bought the licence off Mannlicher and then started making them themselves instead of buying directly from Steyr Mannlicher as they did before.

I am thinking of selling this beautiful museum quality 6.5mm rifle on the EE as I never shoot it, I also have about 6 maybe seven original clips, a set of reloading dies and a lot of easily converted from .303 British cases ready for loading. The bore is just as nice as the rest of the rifle and the walnut wood is spectacular and the bolt cycles so smoothly just like if the action is made of ice, typical of well machined Mannlicher's!

Before I do, I want to find out if anybody may have an idea what a rifle in this condition is worth on the Canadian market so I may price it fairly? please be reasonable as it is a one off rifle likely never to be seen in this superb condition anywhere!

I know that it is probably the nicest condition Hembrug rifle in Canada and even the one in the Dutch National War Museum collection (used to be freely accessible online before they closed it to paid members only) is not as nearly as nice as this one so it is a genuine one off, heck, you never see even average condition 6.5x53R Hembrug Mannlichers for sale anywhere!

An outstanding specimen!

Speaking of Mannlichers, I saw one which had been converted to 8mm, and had the Red Hand of Ulster stamped on the butt.

Like this?

I recently ended up with this one.

It's a Steyr model of 1904, more commonly referred to as an "irish mannlicher", they were build from leftover Romanian 1893 actions. They were chambered in 8x57j (.318" bore) and sold to the Irish.

Very similar to the rifle in this post.

Yes. The condition of the one that I saw was not as nice as the OP's, but very respectable. It is my understanding that it came out of an Orange Lodge in Ulster.
