Ive been wanting a short barrel 308 to hunt and plink with for some time.
I want a 16" barrel, threaded. Ideally I want to put an MDT XRC chassis on it so it can match my other rifles.
I dont love the sig cross with poor accuracy reports and the barrel shroud is a PITA to clean after rain/snow/mud ect.
That being said I dont know if I can trust the new Remington's coming out either.

Who has purchased one? Thoughts?

Great rifles and the only concern for me is the heavy triggers and flimsy stocks. At this shelf pricepoint, these rifles are purchased for the barrelled actions with the intent of garbaging the trigger and stock. Remington has always made bad triggers and Hogue does not make a good stock.

I have the 16" 223. I love it, beautiful little rifle. Excellent accuracy even with cheap, shelf loads. I did upgrade to a Timney trigger as the factory trigger was typically terrible for Remington. Even with an adjustment, the trigger was crap. Also added an H-S Precision stock. Fun target and coyote rig with a Leupold 6-18X. With a dedicated load I can cloverleaf a ragged little hole at 200 metres. I love it for coyotes on the snow. The next addition is a camera mount to capture some coyote hunting shots.

Impulsively a few months back, I bought the 308, also with the 16" barrel. The stock trigger in this rifle was significantly better than that which came in the 223 but I still swapped it for a Timney. I dropped it into another H-S stock and added Mark4 rail and rings but a Ruger Gunsite Scout mysteriously appeared in my locker. The 308 is a really nice little rifle but the 223 is more practical for my needs. Although I parted with this rifle, it was a handy little rig and a good shooter.

Quote-"new" Remington in Canada, do they exist?

Prophet River has a whack of 700’s and 870 shotguns which is what the New Remington said they would concentrate on first.

Hmm, yikes. I had one of the old Remington's and the finish was not great. Hence why I sold it. Marked up very easily.
