Who has the worst customer service?

At least you guys out West Have places to complain about, around here we have slim pickins, good or bad.( The worst being Le Baron) My last three rifles I bought were all out of province. Frontier, and Phophet River get my thumbs up. With S.I.R, I have had mixed dealing with. One deal went fine, and another was sour right from the get go.

I think that alot of these shops all have good days and bad. I hope that between the "recession" and increased competion (in the Calgary area) the local retailers will feel it where it counts. I wish all the stores and dealers sucess, good competion is healthy and hopefully it results in the business working hard for my $$, instead of me working hard to fight with their BS. I think this idea of stores only being able to hire looser's because of high employment rates is bullsh$t. If that many people are working, and your store is that busy, spend the money and get some GOOD help! Your business depends on it, especially when a new American chain mega store opens up near by.

By the way, I'm a little weary of BPS, I saw some guys from the "old stores" standing behind the gun counter at the new store. Seems to be the same old sh$t in a different pile. :runaway:

At that rate Western boys, there will be no place to shop !! And forget about shopping out here in the East !! :kickInTheNuts:

how do explain the no reply to my second email?

I can't, I was simply stating my experience with them. My emails have always been responded to in a timely manner ie. 2-3 days. Any email that I have ever sent to any business was never replied to faster than 2 days, but maybe I just have low expectations.

We now know that you are the centre of the universe but I think you're being a bit hasty.

Honesty people, what do you think you gain by #####ing about poor customer service on the internet? Quit being a pussy and call (you know with the good old fashioned telephone) the store and talk to management, as that is where the solution to your problem lies.

I've been treated well at all sporting goods stores, yes even including WSS which I had refused to frequent ever again. After UFA bought them out, I decided to lift my personal embargo and noticed that one no longer needed to take a number to speak with someone at the gun counter. It could be a sign of the economy or perhaps that UFA has injected some common sense, anyhow a nice surprise.

For me, my worst service is the Canadian Tire in Okotoks, more precisely the auto service department. Probably 'cause fat bastard works there.

I was in there yesterday because I happened to be in the area, and I decided to check out some ammo. Holy moly! $30 for .30-06?! And it didn't end there. I was looking at those prices, and I thought I had accidentally come across a way to move forward in time by a few years by walking down the right sequence of aisles. I know ammo's going up, but they sure jacked things up there in a hurry.

Still soaked in a cold sweat, I made it back to Calgary to check out their shelf. Same stuff, but still at the somewhat reasonable prices (a couple bucks more expensive than elsewhere sure, but not $10 overinflated).

That said, worst experience to DATE in Calgary? Wal-Mart on MacLeod Trail at Southland. I've bought ammo there before, without too many problems other than having to hunt someone down, but up until yesterday, I always managed, but here goes: I was in there yesterday, and I decided to check out their ammo. The shelves were a mess... no, the whole department was a mess. Junk everywhere, even all over the counter, I wasn't sure where I was going to put my purchases if I did actually manage to buy something, but it gets better. There were a couple boxes of ammo I wanted to get, as the price was good, so I started looking around for help.

Sports department... nope. Toys.... no one. Ok.... how 'bout automotive. So I finally turn the corner where the oil is (halfway across the store from the sports) and I ask the old lady I see there for help. She's nice enough, and I hear her page go out. 10 mins later, still no one. So I go on the prowl again. This time, I find another sweet old lady waaaay across the store, and she offers to page again. She tells me it could be a few minutes. I understand, as I was now starting to see a pattern: Blue hair and curls seemed to be the common theme among the blue-aprons. Once again, I hear the page go out, and wait another 15 minutes. No one showed up. At this point I left, but part of me was wondering if I should execute a search for the octagenarian who may have passed out in the aisle somewhere with that elusive key for the glass case...

I found it totally amazing that a store can go without selling hundreds of dollars worth of products behind a glass case so easily. I suppose the markup on their $7 T-shirts and volume sales make up for that easy $100s dump for one product out of the glass case, and no one can be bothered. It's bad too, because when everyone's walking away from the ammo case, the ammo doesn't sell. When the ammo doesn't sell, it's not profitable anymore, and when that happens, well... no more ammo at Wal-Mart I suppose.

Next time that happens, walk behind the counter and try and open the cabinet. If they're not going to help you, I say help yourself. What a sham, that's some pretty bad service, it's obvious the managers don't give a #### about anything, let alone the staff.

If I were you I would have walked behind the counter, and tried to force open the cabinet without breaking it. If you push down on the piece of sliding glass that the bolt is not on, sometimes you can unhinge it from the lock and slide it over anyways without a key.
Works at my store.

I guarentee you that if loss prevention is there watching the cameras and see's that, they'll come over there and check out what your doing. You'll get service then.
Best part is, you can't get in trouble. The only way you can get in trouble is if you're going to steal something, meaning you put it in your arms and walk out of the store front doors with it.
If you happened to accidentily break the glass, or they came running anyways, you can just say
"well no one was here to help me, I was here for 30 minutes and I need these products, I just decided to grab them myself". And there's nothing that they can do about it.

If the service sucks and you know your rights :D then you can at least give them a hard time and get what you want anyways.

Where in your posts does it say you're just "having fun"? All I see is you slagging a dealer. When I offered my opinion of them you dismissed it.

And the last part of my post was not meant for you in particular, it was for all the people that feel the need to ##### on CGN about how the were served by firearm dealers, as if it might help them get better service. I'll say it again, the problem has to be dealt with at the management level.

And by the way, you spell like a 13 year old. At least try to use the shift key and type complete words. It would help you come off a bit better.

Ive never understood the hate for Bass Pro. Ive bought two guns from them and found them very helpful. Busy, yes, but helpful. Same with their ammo cupboards. Never had a problem. Had to wait cause theirs usually only one guy working them, but then again, that not his fault.

Now, I have pretty bad experiences at small gun shop. Wont name them, but ive often stood around, obviously wanting to see something, and been left to wait while other customers were taken ahead of me. I suspect its something to do with my age (23).

My wife has gotten the worst treatment of all at small shops. SHes been completely ignored trying to look at guns. This has never happened at Bass Pro.

Freezerfiller,
I just read southern Ont, my place of origin, , it's a little different out in the west, we don't get the attidute out here and this is the 35th year of a 2 week holiday, left the big city and never went back, I understand now
all the best

I've had a mixture of average to good service at all the gunshops, except for Wholesale Sports in Calgary.

It's like some of those guys working the gun counter are trying to give Wholesale a bad name on purpose. Maybe they have a bad relationship with managment, and this is how they're getting back at them?

Anyhow, it's interesting how those same guys never show their faces at a gunshow, etc. Would'nt it be great to be a vender at a gunshow and have one of those pricks walk up to your table:D

worst i've had was Italian Sporting Goods. i dropped by their booth at the Tradex Boat and Sportsman Show in Abbotsford 2 years ago. i tried to ask some questions about a couple rifles they had, but the guy pretty much ignored me. "ya, uh huh. maybe. dunno." that was about all i could get out of him.

believe it or not, i had good service at WSS Edmonton. i was in town visiting family and wanted to check out some long range rifles. didn't notice any take a number deal going on there. i walked up to the counter and caught the eye of the girl behind the counter. i explained what i was after and she was like "well, i don't know too much about the long range guns, but so-and-so over here does. i'll let him know to talk to you once he's done with the other customer." 5 minutes later, buddy finishes up, comes over and willingly pulls about a 1/2 dozen guns of the rack, lettign me fondle them, sizing them for me and explaining the differences. i left satisfied.

btw, i've also mail ordered 2 guns from WSS and haven't had an issue. both arrived in about 8 days. :)

MilArm in Edmonton is horrible. If your a real sicko and like being talked down to, make sure you ask for Gord.....he will make you want to slit your wrists, just to end the suffering.

Well, just because someone #####es about bad service on here does NOT necessarily mean that they haven't already spoken with someone at the management level. They may just be sharing the experience to try and help some other person avoid what they went through.

However, there is that portion of people who will be passive about problems. Rather than be confrontational, they will just stop spending their hard earned cash at a particular store, restaurant, whatever. Then the managers are left to wonder why a regular doesn't come around anymore, or why profits are dropping, because if it's happening to one person, it's probably happening to more.

Anyway...sorry to interrupt your argument. Carry on. :D

Your dead on Beritel, but in this thread and many others, this is not the case. And your also right in the second part, how does a store owner fix bad customer service if he never is informed that it happens.

Always ask to speak to the next level in the chain of command if your not satisfied. :)

The worst I have had are at Canadian Tire and Walmart . You always have to look for someone. To get anything in the store.
