I have one on my rem 597 and I'm real tempted to paint the stock, grip and perhaps more in OD green and keep some parts black. I read around some folks say Fusion paint but I've only found a handful of pics. Any CGN's try this before?

I have not painted a gun stock before. I will tell you with an automotive background it ain't gonna stick under hard handling. Scuff, prime, then paint if you want a real hard-as-nails finish.

You can help the krylon stick with a good de-greasing. It is good plastic paint but does not hold up to wear like powder coating and so on.

I am also a painter (in aerospace)... And skaal said its all in the prep work.... Sand everywhere... As for paints duracoat... Works real well, I have not painted my archangel 556 ... But I have painted my mini 14 tapco stock and and it lives up to is name!
http://duracoat-firearm-finishes.com/ ... This is the best product out there in my opinion.

I have painted a few plastic stocks. I just degreased and gave a couple coats of krylon and all have held up to "normal" use, but I don't throw my guns around. You can do one better by clear coating.
