Who here shoots Stutzen (full stocked) rifles and carbines?

Johnn likes his Wagner, I know that.

Some perks to living on the East Coast...I get to scoop the West Coasters while they're still snug in their beds!

You might get to scoop some but not all West Coasters Buddy !
Back to topic.... I have a CZ 550 FS in 9.3 and a Dumoulin FS in 7X64, both work well

I have a Ruger Hawkeye in 7x57. Stainless/walnut fullstock. I mounted a VXIII 1.5-5x20 and it is a real pleasure to shoot and handle. I don't hunt with it hard but it does see a bit of action in the stand once in a while.

I have a Sako Bavarian Carbine in 6.5x55 that handles very well, and easily shoots sub moa.

I owned one Zastava Mannlicher 7X57... handled it... sold it unfired.

I have many Ruger International's of both persuasions (No.1 & 77)... love them, the balance, the quality, the handling, the accuracy... excellent rifles.

I've owned a couple of full stock rifles over the years, currently the only one I have is the full stock version of the CZ 527, a .223, which lies high on my ever sell list.

My 527 FS .223 was near the top of my never sell list.... right up until I sold it.

Have an original MS carbine in 6.5x54MS, with peep sights.
Great for going threw the bush, and one of the lightest guns I own.
Clover leafs steady old Dominion ammo at 100 yards, and shoots to the same point as my hand loads!
Loveliest gun to sit and cradle in a stand also.

I have a CZ 550FS in .308. No scope on it currently so just an open sight rifle. Very accurate. I still need work though.

I have a Zastava M85 in x39 I bought last fall, have had it to the range a few times and am fairly impressed with the accuracy. Nice light, easy pointing carbine. It took a bit of fiddling to get it just right, but the trigger is fully adjustable, and it's worth the effort to spend the time on it. Have it at a crisp 3lbs with no take-up, and very little over travel. Can shoot 2.5" groups with surplus, under 2" with commercial hunting ammo.

If I can get away for deer hunting this year (work commitments might prevent that), this is going to be the gun I take.

But I bet you regret selling it . . . if you need/want a .223.

I also had a Ruger M77 MKII Ultralight .223... in downsizing my battery, I decided that I didn't need two .223's... handling and shooting the two side by side made the decision clear... but I really liked that rifle... my only beef was the jutting magazine right at the balance point.

Giving a bump for more opinions on the various full stock options. Looking into getting one for a grad present for myself if I make it through school in the next few weeks. So far I've only seen CZ 550 fs and zastava

How much are you planning on spending on yourself? What caliber are you looking for? The CZ and Zastavas are the most affordable, I've yet to tip over anything with the CZ yet as it's only been scoped and sighted in to date. Don't have a Zastava in the rack yet. The Mannilcher Shoenauer Breda conversion in 6.5x54 has seen some action and I must say I really like this rifle - enough to buy another Shoenauer (but in half stock) that will see action this fall. Also have an Anschutz 1413 in 22 Hornet that I adore. Would be a marginal caliber for blacktails on the island, so it just gets taken out to the range.

Had a Ruger 77 fs in 308 but sold it after a half a box of ammo: too light for the caliber in my opinion.

Take a look at the Ruger M77 International also... I have had them in .243, .270, 7X57, .308 & .30/06 and do not find them too light for these cartridges. I am currently working on adding a .358 to that set.

If you like a single shot rifle, the No.1 Internationals are very nice also;

sako l61r 300 win mag, with a heavy barrel. Its not a light rifle but i honestly don't notice the weight, it swings up real nice. with the sako peep on, kicking around baby green propane tank is pretty do able around 150 yards off hand. still waiting for my rings to put some glass on it, but i can defienetly see another full stock coming home, more of a deer cartridge.
