Who hunts for horns and who hunts for meat?

Meat. The last 2 animals I shot; a cow moose and a whitetail doe. Best meat I have ever harvested.

If I get antlers they usually end up as hooks in the garage for extension cords or raingear.

I always hunt for the meat and will always try to fill my tags before to late in the season (if it's big enough) but, that being said, I always spend some time early in the season looking for that monster bull so I can get a nice rack to Euro mount (hasn't happened yet but I'm hopeful), so I suppose really you can say I hunt for both if the opportunity arises

If only a single-tag year (no supplemental tags allotted) then I try and hold out for horns until we get near the end. Otherwise hunting is usually over in the first day or two. Not as much fun.

And if it doesn't work out according to plan -- oh well, next year. Still had a great time.

I havent been fortunate enough to deer hunt for maybe 4 years now, but I have always wanted to shoot whatever puts itself in my arrows path first. I know I may only get out enough times to maybe get a single deer in a season and I dont party hunt so I always think about getting the meat for the year. I wouldnt shoot a fawn, they are to small, if its a doe or a small buck, its fine for the meat hooks.

I havent bear hunted yet, supposed to get out next year for that, if it works out and I get to go, my only deal is I wont shoot a cub or a sow with cubs.
