Hi everyone,
I'm sure there are threads out there on this topic already, but sadly some of the best are no longer with us so old threads aren't all that relevant. (Two leads from a friend have led to obituaries, which is truly sad. I think it speaks to our gun maker demographic getting older and no one younger picking up the torch.)
I'm about to start a pre64 M70 project--turning a 270 into a 35 Whelen--that requires either a rebore (1st choice) or a new poly barrel (2nd choice). (The barrel will be shortened to 19", so there should be lots of steel to work with. Maybe not.)
I'd like to keep everything Canadian, if possible. Not only do I imagine a bureaucratic nightmare getting a barrel across the border, but I also want to support Canadian craftsman, who do amazing work.
Anyone know of any good barrel guys or girls out there in Canada who rebore or can make a .358 sporter barrel in poly?
Seems a lot of barrel makers now only work in stainless, and this project will be blued high gloss when we're done, so stainless won't work.
Thanks.
