I've been wating for a transfer of my 1911 to go thru for 2 weeks now and when I called today to ask if it's done was told the backlog story and how it takes 4-6 weeks to approve the R transfers and that they are doing all that they can etc. bluh bluh... instead of telling me all that he could've just clicked the approve button and still have time for a coffe break... So now what I have to wait another 2-4 weeks? :puke:

So who else in ONTARIO has been waiting for the transfer to complete and how long has it been?

Geez, you boys out in Ontario need to get on someone who can effect some change down at your CPFO office.

I won't mention I had a 1911 transfer here within BC last week approved in less than 24 hours including the CPFO office faxing the short term ATT to the seller [dealer] so I could take it home.

I'm waiting on one started on Saturday. I called to try and massage it through, but they are saying 5 weeks minimum.

Its going to be at least another 4 before you can send it. Sad but true.

Dealers were a bit quicker - notice were I just waited 4 weeks on a transfer from dealer.

Well unless I'm stepping on too many toes with my FOI and other antics ;)

The CFC advised me of a 4-6 week wait. It takes so long, I end up forgetting what I bought, consider the free space in the safe and buy more - LOL! I've got a few ready to go out as well. On the bright side, the wait does make receiving the firearm that much more exciting.

from what i've heard, dealer transfers go through way faster because " it is essential for their lively hood"

Apparently "not so" in Ontario anymore - everyone is in the same boat. A month ago, it was a 5 day wait for dealers. I was hoping that we might see an overall decline in average wait times due to the two averaging out - I guess we'll see! At least I got my new LTATT before it expired on the 30th.

Dealer transfers here in BC are very quick [as stated in my post above]. They call in the transfer immediately and the BC CPFO office usually approves & provides the short term ATT within ~ 24 hour period.

On non-restricted private transfers [individual to individual] within BC they usually go thru immediately once the transfer reference number is followed up by the completing party. New certificate number is issued at that time, too.

On restricted private transfers [individual to individual] within BC the norm is 2 - 3 business days. But some of them have been uber quick lately, too.

Waiting for transfer

Just got a transfer done today over 5 week wait for the guy who bought my racegun .5 Minutes for the short term att.Waiting on one other hope it goes through before the out of province job offer comes through.

WTF, I have been waiting here in BC for transfers from Marstar, placed order on 7th of April, called them (Marstar) on the 18th. The pistols are set aside awaiting transfer, this usually takes about 2 weeks sometimes longer. Oh well, that is normal I figure.

Once, off the phone with Marstar, I was going to order my Pietta at the same time, but decided differently. I called DelSelins, placing an order for a pair of Piettas. I have them in my hands today, and still waiting on the transfer from Marstar. Perhaps its time for another phone call.

Ontario Transfer delay - More than 7 weeks so far!

I have been waiting here in Ontario for almost 10 weeks for permission to transfer a .22 target pistol to an Ontario buyer.

FWIW, there was a gun auction at Switzers in Bancroft, ON April 12th. By and large, the pistol transfers were approved same day, and buyers took them home with them.
