Who in ON is wating for a transfer? how long?

bought from a dealer in ONT-shipping to QUE 2.5 weeks and i got the temp att and transfer papers(no registration yet) on friday.i should-hopefully-get my new toy next week.:dancingbanana:
 
Ordered on on the 7th of April from a dealer in Newfoundland. Got a call on the 24th that they were shipping it. That's 2-1/2 weeks for a restricted. Very surprised by this.

My last transfer (ON dealer) was almost a month.
 
Ontario Transfer Delays

Further to my earlier post of getting up to 10 weeks, when I again phoned CFC and talked to them about my still holding the pistol while it is registered to the buyer, and my legal concern. they said "have the buyer phone in the ref# and they would issue him a transit numbe" so that he could pick it up and take home.

This was done, I have my money and he has pistol.

My confusion was that I expected to receive permission from the the CFO, Ontario in Orillia. Big, mistake.
 
I've been waiting since March 23 for an AR transfer... I phoned yesterday and the person on the phone made it seem perfectly fine that the wait has been this long, and that it was "just in the pile". I had a transfer from a shop done in 9 business days, picked the gun up yesterday... and I'm still waiting on one more, it's been 7 business days for another handgun transfer... I'm hoping its done monday or Tuesday. :mad:
 
Is there anywhere we can put in a complaint to? The CFO himself? Auditor General? Anyone?

Also, I'm not very familiar with access to information requests, but is it possible to ask them for the number of restricted vs non-restricted transfers per day? Maybe if we have some solid numbers there would be more punch to the complaint.

specificaly the number of transfers in other provinces compared to ontario. when i called they said 'its just the shere volume we are getting' when i asked why in alberta they can do a transfer in a day or 2 the lady on the phone said 'i dont know about other provinces, just here'

i would like to know just how many more transfers go on in ontario...
 
This is truly stuipid. some one needs to orginize a formal complaint and get things rolling on this problem. the current people responisble need to hire more staff or fire them. there lazy and inconsiderate. back log = doesnt want to put in more hours than other provinices. This problem can be fixed simply by giveing the position to a capable person.

i personly think being told i have to wait 4-6 weeks for somthing iam licenced to have and paid for is insulting. while other provinces wait 2- 7 day.

Ontario has almost twice the population numbers that Quebec does, and about 3-4 times the numbers BC does... so while that may not necessarily excuse their poor transfer speeds, it does give them a reason to be slower.

They should hire more people (contractors, if they just want to clear the backlog) to deal with these transfers though...

Just open the purse strings and pay out some overtime. Once they start paying out too much OT then they can justify hiring more permanent staff.
 
This is a mandatory waiting period called a backlog for political purpose. As the CFO is enforcing Federal law, it only serves that we have federal jurisdiction and federal service levels. We should all get one standard. I'm sick of getting second rate service just because my province is full of sheeple. There shouldn't even be an Ontario CFO. The feds can put an office in each province, but they all get the same per capita funding (per capita of gun owners) and the SAME level of service.

I wish I could fire these punks. Unelected beaurocratic sob's working on an agenda against law, regulations and common decency. Fire the lot of them. The waiting game is trying to discourage us all from actively trading in our chosen sport. Death of a thousand cuts by lethaly sharp paperwork. Is there a federal dept than can crap on the provinces CFO for not doing their job?
 
Ontario CFO WAIT TIMES

There are or were some good people working at CFO in Orillia but the Ontario CFO office in my opinion is under the thumb of our Fiberal provincial party.
The only way to change it is to vote the Fiberals out of office and elect
people who understand HONESTY TRUTH AND WHO DO NOT THINK EVERY
LAW ABIDING TRUST WORTHY CANADIAN WHO OWNS A FIREARM IS A CRIMINAL.
Only then will it change.

After waiting 4 weeks I called the Ontario CFO and the transfer was completed in less than 5 minutes over the phone and a fax of the certificate was received 5 minutes after the call ended.
It pays to call and inquire

First pistol transfer complete.

Ordered another one today.
 
My transfer was approvd yesterday! :eek: It was started by a dealer on April 10th...

You know what this means; I'll have my Taurus 1911 by the weekend! :D

My God I was surprised. I called the people, up, asked to speak to the CFO transfer desk, waited for 10 rings, then another 25 mins on what I thought was a dead phone or something, and found out THEY APPROVED YESTERDAY :eek:

I was all ready to start making up stories about why I needed the restricted transfer and stuff. I guess I'll save my stories for the next transfer that needs to go through fast. :evil:
