Who is actually running optics (red dot) on their pistols?

Thanks for the pics and info guys!

Wayupnorth: the cowitness is definitely nice. I wonder if the RMR cowitnesses or if the base is too tall...

It should Co witness as well. That is an important thing. Most shooters when starting off will having issues/delays trying to find the dot. With a co witness setup you just focus on going for your irons like you normally trained for.... and the dot just appears. it's obviously doable without.... but the learning curve is steeper and requires good muscle memory.

I picked up a holosun HS403C solar to put on my ruger 22/45 mkiii. Haven't gotten it in the mail yet so can't comment on how it is on a pistol.

Here is 3 handguns with their dot sight... JP.

Thanks JP. Never heard of the Shield mini before... Who makes it?

On Tactical Import site they give all details on them... Great stuff, i am buying only those from now on, all my handguns will have one to their name... JP.

I had a Burris FF 3 mounted on the slide of my Shadow but it did not survive the recoil. It lasted about 1000 rounds and then started shutting off. Finally would not power back on. Burris has replaced the FF 3 under warranty but it will go on my Ruger Mark III. I would suggest to purchase the best Red Dot sight that you can afford if you plan to mount it on the slide. For me, shooting paper, speed to get on target is not a factor in my choice of dot size. I prefer a small 2 MOA dot with many settings for brightness. I also have a Vortex Sparc 2 with 2 MOA dot but brightness is a little too high on low setting. I plan to mount the Vortex on my GP100 with a Weigand mount. Time will tell how it holds up. Vortex is coming with two new Red Dot sights in the $350 range and I may try the Venom next.

one cool thing about the DeltPoint is that it auto adjusts for the lighting which i didnt know when i picked it up.
so if you go outside to the range its super bright in the daylight so you can see it - which from some of the red dots ive seen on rifles was my biggest complaint.
then if you have it our in the dark it dials itself right down so that its not overpowering bright.

not a big thing for us up here but neat non the less.
im sure most of the red dots probably do something similar.

one thing to look into with red dots for pistols is the warranty.
with the slamming around they take make sure you get one that has a good strong warranty on it cause sooner or later its gonna die from the G forces.

Have this. Not sure I'd recommend it. Sight is too far forward compounding the too small sight picture. Thinking of putting the sight on a carbine.

I have a Trijicon RMR DI on my Glock 34 and enjoy it. I picked the trijicon because I've used my glock as a hammer more than once so I needed an optic that would take the abuse. So far no issues and I've gotten several thousand rounds through it.

Thanks guys! What size/colour dots are you guys running in your RMRs? I was looking at a green 3.5 MOA (As I recall) today and didn't find the green all that quick for my eyes to pick up... but maybe that's just my eyes. It was just in the store so it might be different on a range.
