Hmm... I wonder what the non-compliant furniture was? I have no issue with the norinco-AK-colored wood in the photo, but I wonder if the other wood is nicer to my eye? Guess I'll find out at some point.

Glad to see they kept the GL muzzle. Looks better.

I'm wondering if it was the wood featured on their demo model with the chiseled down sides where it met the receiver.

Below is an example of what I'm talking about. I've drawn a red arrow towards the problem area (in my mind), photo credit to RL1.

I'm wondering if it's barf wood? Not a fan of barf wood but if it gnarly wood I'm all over it.

Barf wood isn't a Chinese thing.

Good to know. I trust no Canadian company would resort to sub par quality wood with the abundance of decent wood to choose from, except perhaps in an attempt to make their products price point appear relatively competitive.

Ok I just researched what beaver barf wood is, essentially resin impregnated wood chips. From an aesthetic point of view Might as well use compressed shredded tires.

I wonder if it could be bakelite or synthetic furniture? Probably not. Likely it was military-style very dark lacquered wood in lieu of that norinco-colourd stuff we see on their SKS's and AKM's.

I actually prefer the deep brown/reddish hue. Just seems more authentic to the design.

Considering the stocks are riveted in, it's not as easy as a take to change the stocks out so even with a spare set of wood it might make it quite difficult to change it

I was wondering the same thing. I'm good with the tools so if I decide to swap it I'm sure I'll figure something out.
