So who all is hunting with a 30-30 this year? I am.
This is a nostalgic fall and I will be doing everything as I used to, at least for this fall...

I took a doe already, 240 yrds. she bang flopped. . I actually didnt see her fall...didnt know she was down,,,I was a bit high, and a bit angled on the shot, but holy **** what a job the Hornady bullet did. Almost a bit too much, if there's any such thing if ya dont lose meat...

Three deer left to take and moose on November 1st.

As for the rest of my hunting..all my waterfowl was taken with my old 16 gauge sxs that was first shotgun at the age of 14 and was passed down.
I took two rabbits with a 12 gauge H&R Topper that my Great Uncle Walt (RIP) would often take his limit of ptarmigan with and the odd sea duck.

My 336ss is taunting me! I used it for my 3 deer last year and it was great. Its quick handling got me my buck(he wouldn't stop). I'm trying to use my XCR this year but if the weather is bad the marlin is going to make a comeback:)

Just took my daughter out and bang flopped a nuisance beaver with my Savage 219. Used the Hornet bbl tonite but the 30-30 bbl will be getting used.
I saw on MSN`s homepage that coyote is in this fall in Europe. Trying to get her onto shooting them; 219 in 30-30 can use any bullet I feel like loading in it. Be good coyote medicine for a grade 7

Of all the guns i've bought i've never actually had one in 30-30. Fired my friends marlins and winchesters hundreds of times but i've never owned my own. I'm more partial to the 336s in .35 remington and 92s in 32 special just cause i like to be different but i always thought i should have a 30-30 somewhere in my collection. I think i may pick one up now. Thanks for the idea sealhunter.

I'll be using mine, but that's because I don't have any other option! Got my Marlin 30AS 30-30 from my dad and it's done well enough so even though I would like to replace it, I can't justify spending the money for no reason.

WHAT!?!?! And you call yourself a Gunnut? WTF is wrong with you? Repeat after me: There is always a reason to buy a new gun. There is always a reason to buy a new gun. There is always a reason to buy a new gun. Keep on saying it in your head for a month. You'll thank me later. :D

Took my pre '64 94 out for the last day of moose season today... calf only so no problem with the .30-30. Never got to fire it, but sitting out there, got to aiming at leaves and knotholes and such... noticed I couldn't get the front sight in focus. Need new eyeballs, getting old sucks.

Amongst others here on CGN better than myself, it's a moose rifle and a black bear rifle.
BTW this year I'm planning on using my .458 American for one deer and then a newly acquired .50 calibre Hawken reproduction for another harvest.
But I'm sure my 30-30 Carbine will be used again in future fall seasons.

Cheers......
