I'll tell you.

The guy who goes into my bear bait station and uses an axe to smash my new Moultrie I-45, with the bear proof steel case, right off the tree and then takes it. $250.00 right out the window.

It was double lag bolted, with the camera strap, and a 1/8 in cable, locking it to the tree. So it was no easy task.

The worst part was I was just about to go on station to hunt for the large bear that was coming in on my bait.

It takes a real low life piece of garbage to steal. I just hope it wasn't a fellow hunter. That would really upset me.

Sorry guys but I needed to vent to people who can understand my pain.

T.

Never experienced something like that, but it sure shows what the world is coming to. People don't respect the property of others anymore..but crossing my fingers you get that big bear :D...maybe after hes eaten the guy that smashed up your camera :p

I regret that this will really upset you, but it is best to know the world as it really is:

It is more likely to be a thief who hunts than one who doesn't. Ones who don't hunt aren't so likely to know that there are trail cameras to steal and where to find them.

He had better not be there when I am passing by. Since there is only one way in, I know when someone is on that trail. He might have a long walk home after I finish with him.

I figure 4 used tires = 1 new trail camera.

I don't understand people that steal stuff.....its disgusting.

I also agree to the tires and claymore......hahahaha

Sorry for your loss, and I feel your frustration.

Remember however, that...

ANYTHING YOU CONSIDER WORTH HAVING, SOMEONE ELSE WILL CONSIDER WORTH TAKING FROM YOU.

It's sad but accurate.

A couple of examples from my ordinary life. When I was about ten years old, an average looking guy in his forties (with his wife and kids right beside him), came over to me at a restaurant, picked up my brand new sunglasses of my table, leaned over and stared at me, basically daring me to do anything about it, and took off with my new shades, as bold as anything. I've also caught people stealing my socks right out of the dryers at laundromats, and one guy tried to steal the free razor holder that comes with cheap Gilette razors, right out from under my face while I was shaving.

Most people are good people, but even a few percent of people out there make the world a place where nothing is really safe.

Is there any chance that this is on some else's property and for whatever reason they took exception? Or someones else's hunting area(so they think)? Don't get me wrong, what they did is as low as can be, but there may be more to it.

I'd have a hard time believing it's another hunter. Probably just a jackass of sorts. Perhaps an anti or bunny hugger.

Other hunters aren't above stealing. I know of a fella that made a side income of stealing and selling hunting and fishing stuff. Pretty sure he's the same guy that stole my $1500 worth of dekes. Lowlife scumbags abound in all circles.

Unfortunately some hunters are thieves.

I remember years ago in Saskatchewan my buddy and I were driving down a gravel road looking for some grouse. Drove up on a truck absolutely loaded with goose decoys in the back. Nobody in sight.
Never even crossed our minds to take them.

Everytime I go out hunting I sort of expect to come back to an empty camp.
I try to lock everything valuable in the truck but I'm sure that would just result in a smashed window.

If I ever do catch someone stealing anything of mine......Well let's just say that the hillbilly scene in Deliverance would be a stroll in the park compared to what I'd do.

Don't forget that these threats could some day come back to bite you guys who make them!

That sucks.

Thieves need beatings. And a couple digits removed.

When I saw the title of the thread, I thought that you were going to rant on about Jack Layton.
Too bad you didn't have a separate, well hidden game cam set up to watch the trail in, you'd know who the dirtbag was.

This is just the sort of thing that keeps me from even leaving my ground blind over night on any sort of crown land, I have built some permanent tree stands and a few brush and box blinds and i put up signs that say " if you come across this blind feel fee to use it every so often how ever please do not change it or destroy it in any way" and so far none of my permanent blinds have been destroyed (knock on wood).

I'd bet it was another hunter. He likely was going to use your bait station and got caught on your camera. So he smashed it off to protect his own identity. Hope you find him teach him a lesson!
