The oldest in Ontario actually start not with ON, but with OHA, and at least one still shoots at Sharon.
The very first black badge in Ontario #001, not sure what year it was, is still very active in IDPA and is living in Orlando Florida.
I competed with him at the World Shoot in 1984 in Virginia and 1986 in Orlando.
You will find him as 'Scouse' in Glock Talk.

oldest in terms of age? or in terms of lenth of time as a black badge holder?
My dad is 70 and he still comes out to IPSC shoots whenever he can.

So the most senior Canadian IPSC shooter has settled into a Glock, eh?

Hmmm... Yep - MG brought the sport to Canada in '77, and was a major part of the black badge creation. Knowing Murray, he probably did take it from himself - so you're probably right.I would guess Murray G would be close to, if not the first BB holder in Canada. but maybe not. I think him and Randy are the longest particpating people in the sport in Canada though
In Ontario, the first issued BB is DVC 1 and that of course is MH. He was one of the original 4 instructors on the first Ont BB course. (which I had the privelege on being on) He came up with the idea of the BB back then. He had the the badges made up and I remember the other 3 instructors had to fight over who got 2,3 and 4. This was pre OHA. OHA then took over issuing the BB number and then IPSC Ontario took over from them...
He is still an active shooter but as others have said more IDPA now than IPSC but we have shot the Glock GSSF match in Orlando for the last few years
By age in Ontario ( and maybe even Canada) Barney has to be the oldest active competitor ( I believe he is 88 now) - at least this is what I remember him telling me at the WCRA level II in May)
Dennis
DVC 11
