Who keeps the boxes?

That's quite interesting. I didn't imagine so many people would keep them. I did by a S&W 19 from a board member in the summer. He had bought it new, and though it wasn't part of the advertised deal he was able to find the original box and shipped it with the box. That was pretty neat to have.

I guess I'll just have to clear out some more closet space!

I keep the box, tags and some of the packaging. I have always felt that it shows you appreciate your firearms and hopefully look after them. It also helps when it is time to sell.

I keep the odd one in case I sell something, if I buy a gun I am going to shoot it so I am not interested in collector’s pieces, could never understand owning a gun and not shooting it. But I guess people buy cars and don't drive them, don't understand that either. I do keep the manuals though.

I just bought a brand new in the box Ruger Mk III. It's the second handgun I've purchased new, the rest being on consignment in stores or here on EE.

I'm just curious to know how many of you keep the original boxes? I have boxes for some of the used handguns I've bought, but they're starting to take up a bit of space. I could see keeping the box for more collector grade guns, but these are just plain shooters.

Do most people keep the original box, and does it add anything to resale down the road? Is there any other advantage to keeping the box?

I always keep them... good for shipping when I inevitably sell the gun.
