Who knew a drawstring could be so dangerous

If you are a welder or work with steel in any kind of capacity you learn quick if your co-workers are paying attention... No draw strings on your hoodie. If one of them is dangling around and gets caught in a grinder. You'll be making out with it.

Loose dangling clothing is a hazard in many work areas and can kill as well as maim. Hopefully a close call will get your attention, i've had mine and learned.

+1. Any loose clothing around rotating machinery can be deadly. Machinists also have to be very careful of this, especially if leaning over a moving work piece in a lathe.

It's not just loose clothing. Anything that can get caught in moving parts of any machine is potentially hazardous.
What this has to do with handguns is kind of vague though. There's an Off Topic forum for a reason.

I always used to holster my revolver or DA automatic with my thumb on the hammer for that exact reason.
More of a dangerous trigger than a dangerous drawstring.

Not sure I would go so far as to call the Glock trigger dangerous, but it does require more attention than a TDA.

If you look closely at the video he was pretty nonchalant about handling his sidearm and the pistol he was considering purchasing. He muzzled himself a few times. He also muzzled himself when he placed his Glock in his holster.

Yep, right on the money. If you carry a gun you need to pay attention and adjust your wardrobe. Obviously he rarely carries while wearing said clothing and I can almost guarantee he's never shot while wearing it.

People need to stop blaming gear and accept responsibility for their stupidity.

I watched a news video about this guy and this isn't the first time he shot himself. He had previously shot himself in the hand. Clearly he should not be handling firearms or electric knives, or weed wackers or long spoons.

There's a reason why they call it "Glock Leg".

The Glock scissor-trigger is extremely prone to snags on clothing.

Hawaiian shirts seem to really like getting caught right in it.

Do tell what is at fault, the pistol that fires and operates as designed, or the fumb f*cks who haven't the brains or skills to safely operate a firearm? Anyone dumb enough to jerk on anything that appears snagged on their gun side deserves to get shot. Failing to reholster properly or sort out your wardrobe is no different than failing to decock or apply a manual safety. Its a training issue, more specifically a common sense issue.

Its no surprise that these events happen to the less trained and less intelligent amongst the population. As posted above, the clown in question is no stranger to stupidity.

And this guy is a police chief? He has shot himself twice Wow, and he still has a job. What about the people around him? I would think they would be a little nervous in his service.

Blah Blah Blah. I know you are the biggest Glock fan out there. And that's all fine and dandy.

But the fact of the matter is that the Glock scissor-trigger is very prone to snagging on loose clothing. Much more so than any other style of trigger.

First thing any new hood gets, is the string cut out STAT. Just makes sense.
I spun chain with catheads for the first 10 years give or take. Worked stick when I wasn't doing that. Both of those jobs are very unforgiving to lose clothing. YouTube those two jobs.
Someone at work was always short part of finger; if not the whole digit, sometimes several would be gone.
