Who knew you could actually BREAK an 870??

So Blacksmithden, my wife, and Den's friend Troy were out at Genessee today mucking around with our shotguns, and after a box or so of mixed factory ammo (some winchester and federal target loads, some 00 reduced recoil, and some Rem Sluggers) I noticed something awry with my shotgun.

Take a look, tell me how this happened, and make a suggestion as to what kind of replacement stock I should get. Note that my shotgun has a matching fore end, though I'd prefer a police length fore end.

So much for refinishing that wood and making it look perty... it's kindling now!

way to go cuz, thats why i bought a synthetic stock if your not fixin it right away when i mod mine i can send you my old one??

Save yourself some money, and fix it up yourself. Lots of fun to do it yourself.
And just how do you fix something like that? it freakin wobbles now.

If you want to make your shotgun Camo, just sand it down and paint it like the way I painted my 870.

I'll pass. This is a ZOMBIE GUN, not some duck shooter!
+1. Hogue Overmold stocks are great. Very good ergos and very durable. P&D usually has some in stock.
I like the forearm, but not the stock. and P&D NEVER has them in, unless my timing is the ####s.

You probably get in to P&D more than I do Grizz ;) so I probably just got lucky the last couple of time that I was up that way...

My wife bought it for me for Xmas year before last. Second hand, but I bought her a second hand CZ75B. :p

Your guess was as good as mine. But read on for more comments. But once I get the forend off, make me an offer. I can even stain it walnut or cabernet for you, and tru-oil it for a price.
it.

Sorry, I was saying you ought to look for a wood replacement don't put a hunk of lifeless plastic on it. Not trying to buy it.

So... an update. After getting the butt stock of, sure enough, there was NO BEARING PLATE. The thing is, the stock butted right up tight in the receiver. Another thing i noticed was the threads on the stock screw were really badly munched up, like it was put on with an impact driver, or worse still, GROUND DOWN. It's only the first 1/4", so I'm still getting decent thread engagement, and the threads on the receiver nut are still perfect. I'd personally prefer to swap it out when I do the stock. Any idea on what one of those would cost? is it something I could get from a nut&bolt shop?

Next thing is: when I get my replacement stock set, I'm going to swap the forearm out as well, by the looks of it, I'll need some specialized tools, anyone in edmonton have one they can loan me in return for a 6-pack?
