Who knows about ATVs?

No snow in this picture, but it shows a working quad not a girly little sport quad :p

He ran by the wrong damn stand opening morning now didn't he!

:D I had a yote trot up to within about 30yds from me, then stop and sit down. All I had was the 7mmMag :) bullet took out a huge chunk of spine, not worth picking up.

Hey popcan, get a quad with good metal racks, easier to tie dead critters, and won't break.

Any other models I should be looking at?

Out here in Oilberta, there are all kinds of heavy haulers working in the bush, and they all have two quads bolted to their truck platform. They are all Hondas - and its not just because they cost more!

Hey boys,

thanks for all the replies...

I was going to get the Kodiak, but my local dealer gave me a screamin deal on the '06 Grizz.... so that's what I went with!

If Honda had more clearance and IRS instead of a straight axel, I would have bought one of those... sorry Phil! You can't convince me!

do not get a kock-A-sucky AKA kawasaki they are the best price BUT they have the worst ride, they break, and they are a ##### to work on.
the Yamaha are the best.

While I don't agree with the way he posted it. I rode with a guy with a straight axle 650 Kawy. Lots of power but the guy said it was on it's fourth primary clutch. They have had a poor clutch record & the straight axle jobs do ride like a log truck. If you cruise ATV sites you can research which bikes have the most problems :) You just have to weed out the Mannie type replys!

"Whatever you do, DO NOT BUY A POLARIS BELT BURNER!"

Maybe you could provide some factual info to support this?
We all know Pols developed a "belt burner" mostly based on the old 250s with no high-low range. That said I personally wouldn't buy one if my main use was heavy work, for the normal 95% of us the Pol system works just fine as long as you use low when required :)

Hard to beat the Grizz. In 04 I paid $9600. minus $300 yam bucks minus the $100 certificate = $9200 + txs .

I see poor ole Riley's takin it hard from you guys again!:(

Just think about what it would be like around here without him.

You'd have to go back to slammin Super Cubs pump actions again.;) :D

I just bought 01' 500 Polaris. Had 500 km's on it. Has hand and thumb warmers and a winch on it so for $6000 I didn't think I could go wrong. So far so good.

I asked around about the belts sysetm and one guy I talked to smoked his belt in reverse only. Seems he was towing in reverse (rather pulling another quad out of the quagmire) I guess the best thing to do is to use your winch or pull fromthe back bumper.

I can live with that.

The Grizz and the Kodiac are all belt trannies, so you belt haters might want to rethink the Polaris theory:cool:

Dam does this mean I'llhave to take the truck to Haggisfest and show you that the Honda's are better :D

I was hoping to go a little more fuel effecient this year with the beater

A reliable tranny / 4 x 4 system.

Been reading a ton on the quad discussion board about Bombardier soft drivetrain and ####ty customer service.

Who knows maybe its just a few loud mouths on the boards, but I think Bomby has a bit of catch up to do....

Never had a problem with the gearboxes on the Traxters, the tranny is built like a tank on them, its why they are heavier and outpull any 660 Yami, or any of Hondas bikes. We had one problem with a CVT, there was a defect in the drain plug and the guys front diff filled with water and rusted. That was the only one we have replaced.

As for catching up, I think they are working pretty well on it. They have the most advanced and powerful ATV right now. Good way to get yourself known. They are working on some new models now too.
