Who knows their SAKO's ?

Yes, but extremely hard to find and extremely hard to get info on (in english anyways)

I've got one coming for this fall and while the Sako Battue is hard to find in itself, the one that I have is apparently even more rare, as it comes with a "classic" stock...AII action...7mm-08

I was wondering if maybe someone around here might have one... or have used one...

You'll have a real gem there. I've seen a lot of Sakos but never one with a classic stock on a Battue. I saw one listed in the US a few years back that way but in 308. There are very few in 7/08-as Sako only made a few 7/08's before they went to the 75 model. You could, quite possibly, have a one-of-a-kind rifle there. Is yours used or did you get lucky and find one still NIB? If its new, it may be worth too much as a collector to shoot? :) Regardless, you'll have one of the best made production rifles made, IMHO. I can not contribute much other then there is a battue 7mm-08 currently on gunbroker.com right now (monte carlo stock) and the seller claims there was only 5 ever made.

I had originally been given some false info.. so I thought I'd thought ask..

I hope it wasn't by the seller. If your rifle came from the store that I think it did, it wouldn't be them that gave you false info!

Notice that the battue on GB has the regular Sako stock. However, when the seller says one of five, he might mean with the 'clip' mag. Still, you will have a very rare piece! Alo, they want $1800 USD for the one on GB and its not NIB like yours. Not sure wha you paid but you could have quite a valuable rifle to a collector.

It wasn't the seller...

I was told whatt I really had,.. was a tikka...dime a dozen

This let me down an awful lot. Not that Tikkas aren't good, but when you buy a SAKO or a Stevens, you want it to be a SAKO or a Stevens...

I am a lever gun guy all the way,.. rarely crawl out of my comfort zone with rifles..

I have had bolt actions, and shot many more. there is something about the handling of a lever action that just "fits" my style of hunting.

When I saw this battue I was immediately interested,.. short, irons, 7mm 08,
hmmm.. I thought on it a while,.. looked at others a bit,.. but found myself coming back to this one always.

As for collector value,.. well I'm no collector..

I have some very nice guns... a 10 gauge sxs from Belgium is one of the nicer ones, but all are hunted, that's what they're made for..(my oppinion)

My hope is that the gun is good quality, a shooter, and one that I can become good friends with, as I am with my Marlins...

If it's a Tikka and an older Tikka Battue it will say so on the barrel. An older Tikka a great rifle wit hvery nice stocks and deep blueing. There isn't a huge difference in value between a Sako L61 and a Tikka m65.

Post a picture, some here can probably tell you which it is.

It came from our shop and its a Sako not a Tikka. Made in '95 or '96 just before they went to the 75's. NIB. Only one I've seen in a Battue with a classic stock. In those days Sako turned out quite a bit of stuff that didn't fit the catolugue. We have a 'classic' in 280 in stock that was never catologued either. Here's a couple of pics:

has any body seen a sako silvertip before .?. i seen one years ago in sask .it had a black composite stock with a stainless barrel .with a grizzly silvertip on the floorplate .i do believe it was a 338 mag .

The Silvertip 375 Sakos were done up by Kerry Higgins a long time ago.
He used to have Saskatoon Gun Works on Circle Drive.

IIRC he had 10 of them made up.
