Short answer, IMO yes. Great all round setup.
I’ve found the difference between my 22” 308’s and my 18” 308’s averages 100-150fps slower when shooting 165gr loads. Which in my opinion is bugger all.
If you would only keep one carbine which one would it be?I have 13 lever actions with 11 of them being carbines. Looking at a Savage 99 250 Savage carbine in 250-3000
I also have 5 full stocked rifles; Ruger RSI's, a lh Sako L691 carbine, and a custom lh Ruger 77 in 376 Steyr (although they finished the barrel at 21", and I did not mind as it balances very well for me, and they checked with me before cutting to my original spec of 20")

I especially enjoy being beside or slightly ahead of the muzzle of an 18.5" 30-06 when it is touched off...
Here are few other of my favourite carbines, some gone some still here;
Oops... one non-carbine picture slipped in there... disregard.
Please let us know how it goes with the little ruger. I'm contemplating one myself.Black rifles are not really my thing, and this one is only black"ish"... it's traditional rifle similarities are the only reason that I can tolerate it in my safe... it arrived yesterday, and I am quite impressed with the quality and features per "buying dollar." I have 2K of bulk Blazer ammo in from Trade-Ex and will give it a good workout this week, along with a pair of 9mm pistols, in an SR9 and 1911.
