Who loves the .338 Fed?

I used to have one in a Tikka T3. It was an awesome rifle, accurate, fast handling and hit game like the hammer of God !! I used Federal Premium 180 Barnes Triple Shock loads in it and was extremely happy with it, but then Federal discontinued that load, and I tried reloading for it but no matter what recipe I used, I could never get anywhere's close to factory velocity/performance. So.. I sold it.

Being that it was a Tikka, you should have put a longer bolt stop in, used magazine for long action cartridge and seated bullets out further! Thats what RJ does. I havnt tried that yet on mine..

I loaded this one for accuracy not speed. Most shots with it are under 100yards. The 185’s shot pretty much hole in hole, others I tried were not good at all; 1 1/2-3” groups. I really need to use that rifle more. Its a great cartridge, especially for my application.
Jim, is your Federal factory barrel length? 22”?
