So much that they couldnt leave any bullets for the rest of us? Seriously guys I finally manned up and got myself a very nice .338 (Thanks again Rembo) and I can't find brass or bullets anywhere. Ive checked all the big guys and alot of my little whole in the wall shops and its either prices are way out to lunch like 2$ a pop for brass and bullets are almost the same or sold out and back order. Where dose a guy go for some Winchester brass and some Interlocks. Seams like there is still lots of stuff in the ussual .224 .244 .256 .277 .284 .308 and .358 but no .338. You guys that have them must really like them, If anyone has a stash or a heads up PM me or post for the rest of us.

Cheers,

Was just at Wholesale in Lethbridge Alberta, they had brass and bullets, I picked up some 225gr Accubonds for mine
sorry it was 338 win mag brass, 200-225 gr bullets, looked to be out of 250 grs

I am an unabashed supporter and fanboy of the .338 Winchester Magnum.

But I am having a serious tryst with a 6.5lb .350 Rem mag that makes me wonder....

Sorry guys should have been more discriptuve it's a .338 win mag, brass is an easy problem to fix just gotta buy some stuff and resize it, just thought if I had to buy brass anyways it mise well have the right head stamp. It just seams like bullets are scarce for some reason, thanks for the heads up I guess I have a few more places to check.

never had much use for a 338-06 or a 338 win mag, but love my 340 weatherby!

x 200...............^^^^^^

I've got gobs of 338 brass and bullets in 225-250 grns but no Interlocks, have no use for Hornady bullets. I won't be home for a week but if you can wait I'll PM you and let you know what I can spare,

Absolutly sounds good, I found a local guy that had enough to get me going but I'm always looking for more and diffirent stuff to try.

Why no use for Hornady bullets? I have found them to be resonably priced and they always seem to shoot well, Ive never really put them to the test on game as far as breaking bone and less then ideal shots.

What do you guys perfer in your .338s?

Any classic combos you cant go wrong with?

Yeah. 4350 (preferably Hodgdon) and 210 and 225 TSXs. You normally have 2950-3000 with the 210's and 2850-2900 with the 225's when pushed to the spout. They tend to be in the consistently accurate category as well and hammer game.

I use h4831 behind 210 ttsx and h4350 behing 185 ttsx for hunting.
Know the 210's worked awesome on moose, but the 185's intrigued me and
I loaded a few test rounds and they were under a inch at a 100 yds,so might
be trying them this year just to see how they work.

My 338wm is pretty tolerant on powder. Pretty much everything the book listed I've tried with satisfactory results. My best results are with 71 grains of H4831.

My goto load is 250grain Sierra's or interlocks for target practice and Swift AFrames for killing. POI on the practice bullets is similar to the Swifts but the Swifts will to exactly what they are supposed to under challenging conditions.

The one thing my rifle does not like is Barnes TSX - sprays them in pie plate sized groups.

Never saw the point of shooting lighter bullets in a 338, while it leaves the muzzle a little faster, you lose your BC, drops faster, slows faster, and gets pushed around in the wind more.

I use Hornady 225 gr Interbonds in my 338 RUM and they are excellent bullets, I have taken a moose and 3 mule deer with them and they performed as good or better than bullets that cost a fair bit more.
