who makes 18.5'' barrel for M14

Krieger, under the name Criterion..... I had one a while back and sold it :bangHead:
tough to find this side of the 49 and i think just in small batches from the factory. If you get lucky to find a new one up here....... expect it to run 300 to 400.
Obtunded and maybe alberta tactical rifle...... mysticplayer perhaps.... they might be able to answer availlability questions. Obtunded had some m14 krieger match m14 barrels and i snagged one of them.
If you had to get one imported .... yikes...... $$$$$
depending on what you are going to use your rifle for..... your norc barrel is not a bad option to keep ;) , in comparison to a criterion, chrome lined barrel.

Smith enterprise might make one too but again..... pretty tough to get yer mitts on a barrel outta the states right now without forkin out some hefty cash.

I just chopped mine about 4 days ago. No problem, although I had a bit of an Alzheimers moment. I thought if I'm going to cut it at 18 1/2 I may as well go for broke and cut it off at 16. Fortunately the light bulb went on in time and I realized that would be very bad (for me) and I stuck to 18 1/2. I threaded the barrel and made a sei knock off muzzle brake and will be trying my hand at parkerizing within the hour. On my JAE stock the shorter look looks great. Once I get the muzzle brake on then it's off to the range.

as a general practice, when we get our shory barrel done at dlask, the finished barrel is 18 3/4, a 1/4 inch over the silly non restricted barrel rule.

this is manily done in case of possible chrome flaking while turning in the crown and gives the machinist some working room to be sure the barrel finsihes over 18.5

also f you use the chop saw method to remove the barrel end, cut it right behind the flash hider so as to give your machinist lots of room to work and so the heat of the chop saw is not near the site where the barrel will be finished at.
