I'm in the market for a new 11.5" crome lined barrel with a 1-9" twist, my options are DPMS, RRA or Questars match barrel all fit into my budget for cost. who makes a better and why?

I agree with both the guys above. You can't go wrong with ATR or Questar.

Both these companies stepped up to the plate to bring us short barrels after the great drought. I will support them, its the least I can do in return.

looked on Armseast site and couldn't fined a 12.5" barrel kit or prices on it -- Note I have hand guards & upper receiver already

Alberta Tactical has the DPMS and there own barrel kit
Questar has both RRA and there own match barrel kit.

but are the DPMS or RRA barrels any good or should I pass on them & get the in house barrels

ATR specializes in accurate rifles (really accurate, at distance) I'd go either with their in house or Armseast, you have a better chance of two things:
A) getting a barrel that will shoot because production volumes are low, and the tubes are handled by people who know what they're doing (as opposed to mass produced barrels)
B) Getting strong customer service, because that's what both companies do.

I know Questar has in house barrels too, so add them to your list. One thing to be aware of, chrome lined barrels are not famous for accuracy - that lining is designed to reduce the effects of heat and wear, not improve accuracy, so it's rare to get a hair splitting barrel with a chrome lining.
