Who makes a good .22

Another possibility if you're not in a hurry, or to keep on a wish list would be the Browning Medalist. No longer in production but a beautiful pistol. They do come up for sale from time to time.

Can't go wrong with a CZ. Personally, I have a Ruger Mk II with a bull barrel which I quite like. Solid and accurate. Not quite a match trigger but pretty good.

Recently got my restricted and i'm looking into getting a .22 semi-auto, any recommendations? Went to a few stores and looked at what they had, i really liked the feel of the sig mosquito and have only heard one person say good things about it, everybody else on the internet seems to hate it. The ruger mark 3 felt good but it doesn't have that cool factor other guns have, i liked the .22 kimber makes but i don't have the cash for that.

Just hoping somebody could point me in a good direction, lol i'm sure there's a million and nine of these threads around but i couldn't find one

I bought a Sig Mosquito from Badger Arms a few months ago and its working great I am using CCI mini mags and havent had a single problem, I love this little gun Im glad I got it!!

Shoot the Ruger Mark III target with an after-market sear, you won't like any other, until you shoot the S&W 41. But then if you shoot a pardini SP, there's no way to go back. For fun plinking, Ruger Mark III is the best, don't waste money for others. For Bullseye competition, Pardini is the best choice.

S&W Model 41 is AMAZING, but also $$$. but it's the one with the most sensible controls (until the GSG 1911 came out)

S&W 22A is also great (i have one) and the controls are very logical and easy to reach (and fully usable with just one hand - you could literally saw off your other arm and still be able to shoot a 22A without a single problem). i find the High Standard stuff to have annoying controls, and a Buckmark / Ruger feels like a pencil.

the only "meh" about the S&W 22A is that the mags might not work with that Ultimate Mag Loader thing, and the gun itself is a bit nose-heavy (at least for me). so if i do bullseye shooting (one-handed), i can't hold it steady. but two-handed grip i can rip through ammo like crazy and swap mags faster than on my Glock.

I recently got the woodsman knock-off by norinco, from marstar. $150 I think. I must say that's its great value it you are just looking for some cheap trigger time. Several boxes of bulk winchesters (say 1000+ rounds) and not a single feed or eject issue. Works like a charm. seems to be not to bad for accuracy either.

Outside finish is pretty good, inside its 100% Chinese crap, sloppy machining where precision is not necessary, springs that look hand bent, etc. This thing is most definitely not a CZ, but its cheap to buy and shoot.

all Mark III (Luger grip angle) models has stainless or black metal frames
only 22/45 (1911 grip angle) models has polymer frames, a lighter gun with a thiner grip....for sure not my favorite

didnt read the whole thread....

the ruger may not have the initial COOL factor....but after you use it, you look at it in a different way.l...it becomes cool....hehe...reliable workhorse.

i have the 22/45 and could not be happier

I was thinking about buying one of those guns also, but I figured that once you figure in taxes, and shipping, you can get a decent used Ruger or other brand name pistol on EE for only $100 more.

I picked up a excellent condition Ruger MK II Target for $250. If your looking for a deal, just keep scanning the EE section, and give it a week or so, and you should get lucky. Offer the right price to the right person, and you can get yourself a good deal. The gun I picked up was on EE for a long time, so I through out a real low ball price of $250 and he said sold.

+1 on Ruger MKIII

It's heavy, it's precise and it's going to last you forever.

If you want something a bit more fancy go for the stainless hunter model with the fluted barrel. :)

I have a Ruger mark II target, super solid gun, zero kick, super accurate, very reliable. That's what I'd recommend, plus theyre not too expensive.
