Hey iv been looking into reloading and think im going to buy a reloading kit. Who makes good starter kits? I was looking at lymans kits, they have single and multi stage press kits. Is there any other manufacturers that offer a good kit like that. All I do it target shooting, iv got an sks and will be buying a 9mm handgun this month and a .223 AR15 this year.

Actually the Lee Classic Turret Press gives you a ton of flexibility, the single stage press will be a pain for reloading handgun ammunition, and high volume rifle ammunition. While you won't get the speed of a progressive you can put several hundred rounds together in a realistic time frame on the turret press. As far as the arguments about 'quality' goes, I have put together about 70,000 rounds on my old turret press and the new Classic is specifically designed to be stronger. I'm looking to get a progressive now, but it won't replace my turret, it will go with it.
The cost of the turret may actually be lower than the single stage.

ya the rock chucker is a good starter press.

I've never used a lee but from the other things I've bought that were lee i wouldn't be shy of buying a starter press from lee myself if i was to start over. I've had good results with lee trimmers / dies and some other things too such as my tumbler ..

but ill put my name (for what thats worth to ya :p) behind the RCBS rockchucker and the quality reloads ive been able to do with it.

Buy the rockchucker press, learn to load on it, and when you start finding it too slow, look at a progressive. Turret presses are an ugly compromise IMO, worst of both worlds.

Are you going for speed or accuracy... how about the lee anniversary kit... I have them instock for $125, just add dies and your good to go.

If your looking for speed lee pro 1000's start at $200 and its a pretty decent starter kit comes with dies and everything you need to get going

Im looking for a kit that can do a good volume of reloading. The RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme Master Kit does look like a good place to start thow. Around how many rounds can you do in an hour with it ?

The rcbs you would be lucky to do 100 an hour start to finish. The lee pro 1000 would get you up to about 300 an hour.
If your lucky, and everything works right. If your going to spend the money on a proggressive, get an LNL or a Dillon. IMO Lee makes good single stage presses period. On the LNL or the Dillon, you will put out much more per hour, and without headaches. Just my opinion though....

I use the lee pro 1000 and if your planning on shooting 5000-10000 rounds a year its more then enough

I can crank out 300 an hour of my lee but needs tuning every once and while, but it also is about half the price of a lock and load...

Other questions you have to ask yourself is do you want factory crimp... powder checking die? Then the lee wont work for you and you need a 5 station press... do you want to manual advance the case or do you want the machine do it for you?

If you want to do a high volume of loading of multiple calibers quickly there are really only two options.

Dillon 650

or

Hornady LNL AP.

As I have posted (numerous times) I opted for the Hornady unit as it was a lower cost and with the "get loaded" program it was free.

With the LNL I pump out 100 rounds every 10 minutes or so.....on average however it works out to 500 per hour as I have to fill the primer tube....(need to get more spare tubes)>

Like Storm says, for volume the LNL or the Dillon, for a cheap single stage press, and one that is tuff as nails, the Lee Breech Lock. Set your dies, and you never have to worry about re adjusting everytime you swap them out.
