I am going to build an M305 in 260 rem. Can anyone recommend a barrel supplier in the US? My usual supplier, ER Shaw, doesn't seem to do semi-auto barrels.

Thanx

Hoping to not deal with a real custom shop. I will Email Wilson and Shaw and see.

Thanx

I think you will be pretty much dealing with a custom shop for what you want.

Barnett, Smith Enterprises, and Douglas also make M14 barrels.

It had been asked before about building an M14 in a non-standard caliber (as far as the M14 platform is concerned), and IMHO, it is not worth the money, time and hassle.

You would have to do a LOT of tuning and tweaking with the gas system/ammunition/load selection, etc...............

I agree totally with SB......that is why I recommened Krieger.....I don't really know if they are any more custom than Shaw or Wilson. The price for any of the barrels will be about the same I'd imagine $400 - $500

A .260 Rem uses slow powders. You are going to have some real fun tweaking that for accuracy, proper cycling and ejection. I wish you the best of luck. You are much braver than I and I've had several M-14's.

My vote also is for Krieger in .308.

It will take some tweeking, for sure; but it's certainly not impossible once one has the barrel.
I think it'll make a fine rifle.

Not impossible, but as Canuckhunter mentioned there are some things with the gas system/cycling,/eeding/ejecting that will have to be worked out.The wrong type of powder will bend op rods and can do nasty things to semi-autos....................

It would be interesting to see how it would perform if this project gets off the ground.....

"...Hoping to not deal with a real custom shop..." Like Skullboy says, you're looking at a custom barrel no matter who makes it.
