I'm looking to begin reloading for my 7.5 french and 6.5 carcano, possibly even to hunt with the carcano.

I want to get carbide dies for each so I dont have to worry about lubing the brass up. Who makes carbide dies that'll fit an rcbs press, and ship to Canada?

If anyone has a set for sale PM me.

I suspect they would have to be custom made, and the price would bring tears to your eyes. Two such dies would likely cost as much as a collection of the rifles in which the cartridges were used. "Carbide" pistol dies only have a ring of carbide in the throat of the die. Carbide rifle dies would have to be made from solid carbide blanks.

DILLON ( http://dillonprecision.com ) makes carbide dies for .30 CARBINE , .223, .308 rifle cartridges but they are for die life . You still have to lub your cases. Carbide dies are usually only available for straight sided pistol cases. LEE ( www.leeprecision.com )makes pretty good dies and have them in the 2 calibers you want. Higginsons Powders are a Canadian distributer of LEE products.

Bearman is right. Carbide dies still need to be lubed. Unless you are planning to load 1000's fo those rounds, carbide dies are not needed for reloading rifle ammo. They will last longer for the volume reloader ( .223 - .308 ) but there is no real advantage. Since your caliber are kind of odd one..read not so popular anymore, you probably will pay more for those dies than other more popular model. Custom dies are expensive and carbide custom dies will be prohibitive and not needed to load hunting ammo.

If you want to go the custom route and spend your $$$, check with Redding. They make premium custom dies.

Re: Dies

Use regular dies with a spray lube. Almost as quick as (pistol) carbide dies.
All my dies are Lee Precision & never had a prob with them. They are not very expensive. Higginson Powders will ship them to u.

Tex sends.
