I'm looking to get a custom bullet mould made. Does anyone in Canada make them? What I'm looking for is something to duplicate a Buffalo Bullet Co. 45 cal 285 gr. (but I'd like to get 300-325 gr.) HP spitzer boattail to use in sabots.

Cast Bullet Engineering is a known Australian mold maker, and NOE is another in the US. I would take a look at the Cast Boolits forum for more info on custom makers and group buys for custom molds. I don't believe anyone in Canada is making any these days but I don't know this for sure.

There is a chap in Regina who apparently makes very nice moulds.
I believe his name is Bumphrey ?
Another CGNer.... Short Knife Johnson speaks highly of him, shoot him a PM.
I might even have his contact info somewhere if so I'll PM you.

Go to the top of the page and click on "Online Bullet Design" . You can actually design the bullet the way you want and order right on line. It usually takes about 6-8 weeks to arrive at your door but it is well worth it. I have never had a bad mould from them and I must have at least 20 moulds without a flaw.

As previous poster said, switch over to cast boolits and read to your hearts content, lots of info there.

LEE moulds.

The nice guys at LEE, you know the guys who make dies, reloading equipment etc....they make custom molds to order.
I believe that if you can supply them with a bullet/scale drawing or essentially describe the bullet you want, they will make it. Cost is U$200.00 plus mould handles. LEE uses aluminum instead of steel but if you use the mould like they say, it will last years and give good service.

I've designed 2 moulds using the online Mountain Moulds app. Excellent quality moulds and the online design app is easy to use.

From the time I designed and paid online ((FRAUD ALERT)) until I received the mould was about 2 months. $120 is a darn good deal for a custom made 2 cavity high quality mould that churns out first-class 8mm Lebel Revolver bullets.

 YOU need to custom design the mould using Moutain Molds the online CAD program found here: http://mountainmolds.com/ . Look in the mid-upper left side of the page and find "online bullet design" and press "go". When you're done designing push the "pay" button and it takes you to (FRAUD ALERT). 3-6 weeks later a mould shows up in the mail.... Worked for me a couple months ago and it's still working including the (FRAUD ALERT) shopping cart.

i know that be he says the molds he makes are not custom :p look on the froum in my thread there
this is taken from my thread on the mountain molds froum posted by the owner of mountain molds "Mountain Molds does not claim to be a custom mold maker."

custom definition: Made or done to order for a particular customer

Decide the dimensions and meplat you want. Punch them into Mountain Moulds program and pay your money. Voila, you have your own, personally designed "custom" mould.

Light years ahead of anything LEE is producing and for a very reasonable price for a one-of design.

Other makers such as Swede Nelson, at NOE require minimum orders, before it is worth their time to spool up and cut the blocks. Expect a long, long wait. Easy 7-9 months, simply because they are so busy with other mould runs/group buys on Cast Boolits.

They do produce some pretty nice mould though.

Another mould maker is Mihec, Based in Europe, he has a web site and you can find him on Cast Boolits as well. Has turned out some very pretty moulds in brass and aluminum for me through group buys on Cast Boolits.

Gosh.

Mountain Moulds builds the mould from your design.YOU custom design YOUR mould on their software and he builds it.

Your definition of "custom" fits perfectly. Using the online CAD program to design your own mould is "made to order for a particular customer". That mould is one of a kind, made to your specs only for you, a particular customer buying a particular one-of-a-kind mould. Explain why that isn't "custom". You can't.

Mountain Moulds won't custom design a mould based on telephone calls. But they'll build any custom design you are clever enough to plug into their CAD program.

Gosh. Mountain moulds doesn't CUSTOM DESIGN moulds based on a phone call from some yahoo.

Mountain Moulds let the customer design a mould within the guidelines of their online CAD program. Then Mountain Moulds builds the mould from your design.YOU custom design YOUR OWN mould on their software and he builds it.
