Who makes stocks ????

I picked up a mint condition CIL 308 (no laughing) It was a steal of a deal but some idiot painted the stock black , must have been the tactical model and I should be lucky to have got it for less than 1000 , anyways who in the Lower Mainland/ Southern BC can turn me on to a wood stock unfinished 'blank' with a recoil pad ???????

Tried marstar, milarm and western gun parts? They might have surplus stocks for the CIL 308. I have a range mate with one that is painted sky-blue...painting CIL stocks seems to have been in vogue.

Since you think you will have to replace it anyway, have you tried paint stripper?

What model C.I.L.? A lot of their rifles were made by Savage. There's a cross reference at Gunparts. http://www.e-gunparts.com/crossref.asp
Mind you, wood is wood. I'd just refinish the stock you have.

Thanks for the Info....Im a little leary (lazy) stripping it....It is gonna be a mess and it is all over, even the recoil pad....For sanity sake I just wanna get a new stock.

Pull the recoil pad, take it outside and use a good stripper (that 1851 furniture one works quite well) then refinish. A CIL could be a lot of different rifles, they branded other manufacturer's stuff all the time, including Savage and Winchester. - dan

It is not that difficult to strip the paint off. My 16 year old daughter stripped a stock on a Wichita target rifle, she bought two years ago. Seems the old paint job was just too ugly for her to shoot. It is now a nice dark blue. Her
.223 in a 40X smallbore stock is hot pink.
God forbid if she was ever seen shooting and ugly rifle.
