Dr. Kolbe(Border Barrels), Kreiger, Rock and others all learned their trade from the great Boots Obermeyer. Having said that, you can't go wrong with Gaillard or McLennan.

The most accurate rifle I ohad was a Wichita .308 Win. with Maddco barrel in .308W. About 2" @ 600 yards with Sierra 155s.

Manitou210, for sure Hart has won more BR matches than any other. For High Power in the U.S., i think it's Krieger. for fullbore in the U.K., Border. Lots of good product.

Peter

but this is a blonde vs brunette type of question.
Of course it is, but like everyone else I have an opinion, too!

I just retired a Broughton 5C barrel (6.5x284) that went 1000 rounds, then setback, shot 800 more rounds, and was still hitting the V-bull at 1000 yards. According to most sources this barrel should be done. Just screwed on a Gaillard barrel, broke it in, after about 40 shots it's shooting about 0.4 moa (5 shots) at 100 yards. Tomorrow the loads get tested at 400 yards.

I'm thinking everyone has a favourite brand, but if treated right they're all favourites.

I have used many of those listed and am pleased withthe results. The only bad barrels i have ever had were/are a couple Sportco barels that woudl not shhot.

The worest barrel I ever had was on a Mossberg 30-06, bolt action. It would group 6" at 100 yards. Off a bench with a big scope.
