Who makes the best scope mount for an M14 or M1A

I would like everyone's opinion on who makes the best scope mount for one of these rifles and what I should expect to pay for it

This CASM mount been servicable since 2015, even with a very heavy scope. Zero have not change after 1K rounds of Hirt. This mount is sturdy.

You wont regret an ARMS #18 mount or a Sadlak. Heard good things about the CASM mount but ultimately, any Brookfield successor mount will never steer you wrong. I went all in and sourced an actual Brookfield, mostly for a clone build though.

2 screw type mounts w/rear windage adjustment repeat the best w/a cup attached to the stripper clip guide instead of the conventional threaded hole.

Leatherwood Mounts w/ART I & ART II's on my SM,NM,Rack grade Springfield M1A's.

I think it comes down to whether you want to keep your rear iron sight. I use arms18 and not CASM for this reason. Arms18 allows use of iron sites when scop rings are detached .

retaining the irons is essential on a battle rifle as far as I'm concerned.
I have tried them all..... literally..... and I run nothing but ARMS 18
the split rail swan style is hard to find but they are out there. Otherwise the standard arms 18.
installing these incorrectly seems to be a fairly common reason why guys have issues with them and they mistakenly brush it off as a receiver issue.

Just to be a contrarian, I’m going to suggest the IDF “Nimrod” M14 scope mount

If you don’t care about the iron sights, the CASM is the cheapest option that is “acceptable” and the cheapest on the list at $180.

The next cheapest option at $199 USD (and the one I personally use) is a Basset Machine mount. Easy on, easy off, holds zero after instal, uninstall, reinstall. I prefer to use irons, but do use an optic when testing loads or ammo.... or I should say I “used to” before May 1st.

The next option is the ARMS 18 at $300. A solid option, they’ve been around forever, and have been the standard to which all other M14/M1A mounts have been benchmarked against for decades.... but if you want the ability to remove your optic to use the irons, then QD style rings are another thing to add to your shopping list.

The Sadlak is a solid option, and a must if your receiver is slightly “askew” as it has some built in adjustability. Not my favourite, and the most expensive option on this list.

I have original US and Israeli Military contract ART II scopes
Main screw and stripper clip screw mount work
I have ARMS mounts for mounting ANPVS 4 Second Generation Scope
But, I think mounts have come a long way since then

I had a bassett, I liked everything about it but the look. I scored an arms18 mount for a steal so kept that one instead. I like the lower profile look to it also. Or at least I did... when I owned the rifle. Luckily I sold it the day before the ban. What a lucky coincidence!

ARMS 18 here as well. Solid, doesn't shift and low enough that with quick detach rings you can use your irons if needed/wanted.

Can you elaborate a bit on the incorrect install that leads to a presumed receiver problem?
