Who makes the Winchester Wildcat?

I was looking at the new Lebarons catalogue on the net and I saw that they still have a small selection of Winchester products that were not made at the plant they shut down. One thing I noticed was the Winchester Wildcat that they are saying is quite accurate (that remains to be seen) and is rather inexpensive. I checked the Winchester webpage and they are talking about "international procurement" or something like that; I assume that means they are buiyng it from somewhere elase and putting their name on it (ala Remington Trojan).

What I was wondering is if anyone knows if this gun is marketed under another name and\or model so i may find some more info on it. A bolt action 22 with 4 mags for $250 is not a bad price.

Cheers,

Corey

sucks....americans start making russian .22s for double price.....
TOZ-78 - the gun that was used to make a Wildcat .22 Winchester.
hope the quality will stay the same :)

The Wildcat is one of the new versions of the TOZ-78 with better stock, different sights and a slightly different bolt handle.

Looks good in the picture.

And yes, the Toz-78 is an accurate little rifle.

So has anyone been able to get their hands on one of these yet?

I was bitter about Armrus closing before I got my hands on a TOZ-78, so I'll suck up the $100+ markup and buy the rebranded Winchester Wildcat... if only I could find one.

LeBaron's has 'no idea' when they'll be getting them in but they're listed in the recently published fall/winter supplement (2006/07) for $249.94 w/ x4 mags (same number of mags as when armrus was selling the originals).

I suppose this means I'd pay $250 for a TOZ-78 now ... off to the EE ;-)
